asymmetry call back = freaking out
I am trying not to worry since I do not have all the information yet. I worry about getting a mammogram and then to receive a call back my anxiety is through the roof. I go back for spot compression and possible US on Monday. Has anyone had any experience with or can give me any information about my mammogram findings would be greatly appreciated. This is what the report stated:
EXAMINATION: Bilateral digital screening mammogram. INDICATION: Routine screening. No reported breast symptoms. COMPARISON: 4/7/2017, 4/15/2011. TISSUE DENSITY: There are scattered areas of fibroglandular density. FINDINGS: An asymmetry is present in the medial right breast which requires additional imaging. The left breast is negative. Computer-aided detection was utilized in the interpretation of this examination. _____________________________ ASSESSMENT: BI-RADS 0 (Incomplete: Needs additional imaging evaluation). 1. An asymmetry is present in the right craniocaudal projection.

MTS - I Just went thru the same in February, and was called back for spot compression. Your birad 0 score means they need more imaging to determine what the asymmetry is (asymmetry means the area looks different from the surrounding tissue or different from the other breast. Mine was a focal asymmetry. Now, don’t get too freaked out about this. Asymmetry is a very common finding, and usually benign.Breast density can be a factor and may be perfectly normal for you. Mine turned out to be a simple fold over of skin because of the way my breast was placed in the mammogram equipment. It made the tissue appear like there might have been a mass. They are calling you back to make sure there’s isn’t anything there to be concerned about. The vast majority of call backs are benign, as well as the vast majority of findings benign. Call backs happen to 40% of all screening mammos. Try not to get worried over this as most likely you are fine, and your center is being extra diligent (which is a good thing!) sending you positive vibes for good results, hang in there, hugs!

Egads007 Thank you for your response. Believe me I am trying everything I can to stay calm. I am anxious normally and then to have something really unsettling happen just throws me into a tail spin.
I appreciate your kind words
