Diep after implants
Hi
I am almost 5 year from end of treatment. 3A triple+ bilateral mass with implants. From WI
My left side does not look the best. Some pain.
I have been thinking of getting diep procedure after implants. My left bad side getting tighter and my plastic surgeon said it will keep getting tighter over the years and if something happened, he would not put in another implant in. I have been reading and it looks like if u have a lot of radiation diep is the best way to go. I dont know why they didnt steer me in that direction the first time.
Has anyone had this done? How did it go? The surgery sounds scary to me. It seems I would like it done but worried. Hopefully insurance will pay or I cant get it done.
Any help on this subject would help.
Thanks
Brandi

Hi Brandi- come on over to the 2018 & 2018 DIEP boards and read some experiences and ask questions. There are several ladies on those boards that are good resources for trading implants for DIEP breasts. If you’re thinking about or planning to go to NOLA for DIEP there is a by invitation only Facebook page I can add you to with plenty of ladies who are planning to or who have made the trade. Why wasn’t DIEP brought up before? Likely because no one in your area did them or just the PS they sent you to didn’t do them. Many (if not most) PSs that don’t do them will not even mention it as an option...if they did they might lose your business. Insurance should pay provided the dr and hospital code it correctly. I had BMX with immediate DIEP and I am thrilled with the results. Any surgery is scary but at least with this one there are no organs or muscle cutting involved. It makes for an easier recovery. Here’s a link to the NOLA website where you can check them out and view their before & after photos including ones where implants were causing problems:

I dont know where to go to to get women to respond.
This place should have year tabs or something. Too much older stuff. Dont know where to go.
Thanks
