edited April 2018 in Not Diagnosed But Worried

2 weeks ago I noticed I had a large round hockey like mark right under the left side of nipple on right breast. It hasn’t gone away. My breast seems slightly larger than the other and now I noticed a bunch of pin sized red blood dots all over the breast. Went to my breast surgeon this morning as we were watching an issue on my left breast which had. I changes. He said I should see a dermatologist. It’s not a rash!!! I have read that many who have been diagnosed with IBC went through similar and after months finally got a biopsy. He is sending me for a mammogram of right breast and ultrasound which at times is inconclusive. I know that IBC is rare so I’m afraid it is being shrugged off because of it. You know when you have the feeling in your gut that there is more to it. That’s the way I feel. Has anyone else ever faced this and what was the outcome. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thank you

go ahead and see the dermatologist. They will likely do a punch biopsy and then you’ll have answers likely far sooner than fighting with the surgeon over it. Good luck & hope the results come back benign.

Great advice from Lula73. You may get answers faster with that approach. Is it a breast surgeon or internist who is referring you for a mammogram and ultrasound? If it is your internist, perhaps asking for a referral to a breast surgeon?

Thank you for the input. It was a breast surgeon who is sending me for diagnosis mammo and u/s. I just feel he was dismissing me. I see changes daily and in my gut it is saying be diligent. I have spoken with my primary to be seen by dermatologist. I’m a nurse I’m 99% sure it’s not a rash or dermatitis. I’ve seen that this could be the start of a bad thing. I’m staying hopefull and positive

Very frustrating. Sounds like an important next step for you to discuss with your doctors (maybe a different breast surgeon) is to get a biopsy. Indeed, stay diligent, it's your health.
