Biopsy experience

Hi all. I just had my first biopsy yesterday and when I was looking for positive experiences beforehand, I wasn't finding much. (this is online in general not specifically this group ) As a result, I was a nervous wreck so just wanted to post it on here so other people can find stories that aren't horror stories. The appointment took around 2 hours, most of it just waiting and repeating my name and birthdate multiple times. I actually asked them if they had many cases of people forgetting their names while they were in there, lol. I'm sure these vary depending on where the suspicious area is but I was sitting up for mine. There were a few pin prick instances of pain when they were putting in the numbing stuff but not bad at all. The hardest part was staying in the exact same very awkward position for 15-20 minutes while they took the original pics, took the actual biopsy, put the marker in, and finally took a couple more pictures to make sure the marker was placed properly. It's now the next day and it's aching a bit off and on but that's it. Now waiting for results and crossing fingers!

    Hi Jamie,

I'm hoping you have good results. The waiting is the hardest part.

Hi all. I got back my results and it's benign! Only downside is that it is something called a radial scar. They want to go ahead and have it removed as bad stuff can hide in or behind it, which I am fine with. The RN that gave me the results said that meant that I was at a slightly higher risk of developing breast cancer later on. Since I had already been told that I was at a slightly higher risk due to having dense breasts (I prefer saying "being dense" ) I didn't find it exactly reassuring but at least it's a problem for another day. Surgical consult next on May 15th.
