DCIS diagnosis at biopsy THEN IDC after surgery pathology

My biopsy tested DCIS but my DR stated since I have 4.5 cm palpable mass that is characteristic of IDC. Want to know if anyone had DCIS before surgery but after Lumpectomy and pathology they also found IDC.

    This is very common. You really don’t know what you have 100% til after lumpectomy/mastectomy and node pathology comes back. It will likely change your treatment paradigm very little.
