Diagnosed Friday

Stage 1 grade 2

1cm

Ultrasound showed lymphnodes to be fine and path report says negative for lymphovascular involvement.

Chances of actual cancer in the nodes at surgery??

Scared....

You really can't be sure until the nodes have been checked during surgery but try not to freak out not everyone has positive nodes and if they are positive it's not immediate cause for panic.. it means treatment will probably be a little crappier than what others have had and not as bad as some. I'm so sorry you find yourself here.

    Best Wishes

I had a positive node found at surgery and it didn't derail my treatment. I just got full radiation to the area (which they might have done anyway, not sure).

    Nurselola,

If you want to get a rough estimate of the probability of positive nodes, you can use this link.

I hope the pathology will be negative.

Hi Nurselola, My doctor told me if someone has two or more "positive" nodes, it means chemo is a necessary part of treatment. I had 3 positives nodes, so they took out 26 lymph nodes near my left breast. I had very little discomfort from the lumpectomy and node removal. After that, I started chemo, then onto radiation, then anti hormone therapy. There are threads on this site from ladies who had 10, 20, or more positives lymph nodes that have been cancer free for 5, 10, 20 years or more. By the way, chemo wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. We are here for you if and when you need us through all of your treatment protocols. Wishing you the best. Meg101

Lumpectomy yesterday. Two nodes taken and one positive :(

I'm assuming that means sentinel is positive.

Now more waiting for oncotype and treatment plan.
