Stereotactic biopsy finally done
hurrah - after a wait of 3 weeks I finally had my biopsy today. Was much easier than I thought with the only stress being told I must not move at all (at least 50 times) - I find this makes me want to move ...
Anyhow I managed to stay still and biopsy of 6Calcifications done first go around. Radiologist said that although 2 areas of calcification he would only biopsy first as they were fairly near to each other. If biopsy shows anything, both would be removed at the same time. If on the other hand biopsy is clear he will do another biopsy on the 2nd area - oh joy!
BS appointment on 16th for results so the never-ending wait is nearly over ....

today I will finally get my results as have appointment with the BS! Got about 3 hours sleep last night thinking the worst and going to appointment alone as hubby is at work. Wish me luck
-
I wish you all the luck in the world and sending positive vibes your way firtoday! Let us know how it goes please! Deep breaths!
-
thanks Egads007. I appreciate your good vibes and will definitely update with results x
-
Best of luck today! Hoping for good news for you. Let us know the results!
-
Hoping for good news for you! I was glad to hear the biopsy wasn't bad. I'm scheduled for one this Friday & I'm a nervous wreck! Trying to stay calm.
-
thanks cocomedy and jeri64 - heading out soon!
The biopsy was far better than I was expecting - I'm not going to tell you to stay calm as that's pointless BUT I felt loads better after having the biopsy and I personally found it easier than the mammograms, so hopefully the procedure itself won't stress you out too much! I also got to see my images from mammograms and us - I just asked the technician.
Right now I'm fighting the underlying panic but am normally pretty happy go lucky so I think once today is over I will be fine... Fingers crossed
-
Checking in Golfnut33. Wondering how it went yesterday & if you're doing okay??
-
hi jen64
Well yesterday was another shambolic day. Got to hospital to be told that they had changed my appointment to 23rd but forgotten to tell me! Anyway the nurse said no problem, we will see you. 2 1/2 hours later the surgeon comes along and says we don't have your biopsy results yet, so I actually can't tell you anything.
So no results! But a promise that she will call me when she gets the results. 2nd time this hospital has done this ... Truly not adding more stress to an already stressful situation.
Not long till your biopsy now - how are you doing???
-
Oh I'm sorry to hear this!! The waiting is enough to drive you crazy! I'm hanging in there. As you can understand, I just want to get the biopsy over with and get the results. I'm learning to practice patient and take it one step at a time though. Well, please let me know what you find out. I'm thinking about you. Sending positive thoughts your way!
-
Arrrrrrrg!! How awful for you Golfnut33! I’ve been checking your post often to see what happened, and feel so bad that you’re still waiting, in what must be total frustration. Please know that we’re all waiting with you and keeping positives and support flowing your way! Yes, one step at a time.
-
How frustrating! I have to drive two hours to my "local" hospital so I'd be plenty miffed if I got there and they had nothing to tell me! Four hours in the car for an "Oops, sorry." Anyway, keep busy with your favorite pass times and think as positively as you can! Let us know how it goes.
-
jen64 - thinking good thoughts for your biopsy today .....
Deepwaters and egads007 - was frustrating but I'm so over the whole thing now. Worst thing is that I have to go back in 6 months for redo on other breast - so I'll have the whole thing over again ... Still awaiting results BUT the sun is shining finally and all is goo
-
Golfnut33- so glad to see you’re feeling better today! Time is good for that (heals all), like you I get sick of it after a while and it makes things bearable. Enjoy that sunshine and keep us posted.
-
Thank you Egads007! Biopsy went fine. Now waiting for results. Hopefully I’ll hear something by Wednesday!
-
finally got my results! Met with breast surgeon and I have to quote 'atypical ductal proliferations showing features consistent with adh. Calcificationsseen within these atypical ducts. '
Because I have dense breasts, I will be having an mri within the next week and then a lumpectomy on May 9 with further pathology. After I will be referred to a plastic surgeon to reduce the other breast so that they will once again match! Feeling pretty relieved ....
-
Golfnut33- so glad to see you finally got relieving results! Hope you’re celebrating tonight
-
Golfnut33, glad the waiting is over! Relieved for you!
-
thank you egads007 and jeri64 - I'm relieved and celebrating with a glass of wine although less than happy about upcoming lumpectomy and further revision - to quote my breast surgeon 'once I've touched you, you can get any plastic surgery you want'. I'm hoping to look like Beyoncé after all of this ....
Please let me know when you get your results jeri64! I'm still sending positive vibes out for you ...

Ok, I want the name of your surgeon lol! Hang in there Golfnut, lumpectomy isn't a bad recovery...better than I expected and within days I was moving around well. As for the revision, sorry can't help you on that one. Keep us posted on your progress!
Jeri64, same goes for me...sending tons of good thoughts your way!
-
thanks egads007
Everything seems to be moving along - mri on Monday then pre-op on Wednesday. I have no idea what to expect but am picking up my youngest daughter from uni on Saturday so that will keep me busy - gotta unpack and no doubt wash, all her stuff! She doesn't know anything yet so am hoping for continued good news! Also hopeful that I will get a couple of days dog walking out of her.....
-
Golfnut33 - get a few good days of laundry out of her lol! Enjoy your time & keep us posted on all your happenings!
-
well had mri on Monday and they have found a nodule in right breast that needs to have Mri guided biopsy so lumpectomy is postponed until July (I'm off to the uk for 5 weeks for eldest daughters wedding). She is going to try to schedule the biopsy before I leave on 28 May - this is really starting to drag on now ..
-
Golfnut33, sorry you’re still dealing with all this. I hope they can at least get the biopsy in before you leave. Keep hanging in there & keep staying positive! :
-
thanks jeri64 how's it all going with you?
She has assured me it will be done before I go away but there are only 2 radiologists who are trained to do it. I'm ok - just putting it to the back of my mind while I get in wedding frenzy ..
-
Good to try & put it in the back of your mind so you can enjoy every minute of the wedding! So exciting! I'm doing good. Keeping busy has been easy between work & the weather being beautiful. I've done lots of yard work! LOL! Surgery is a little over a week away so I'm getting there. I want it done & over with!!
-
I should be gardening but I just can't be motivated to do any! So glad you have your appointment soon - I'm sure you're a little nervous (I was) but I know it will be good to have it all over and done with. I hope you are going to be well looked after for a couple of days ..
