Biopsy done and this waiting game is not fun!!
I’m new to this group and completely scared....
I went for a mammogram on 4/10 that showed a cluster of microcalcifications. Went back on 4/18 for the diagnostic mammogram. It showed punctuate microcalcifications linear distribution within a 5 mm area and BIRADs 4B. Stereotactic biopsy was done this past Friday. The Doctor removed 8 calcifications along with surrounding tissue.
I know I should not have googled anything, but how can anyone in this position not? I have no self control apparently. I was told I might not have the results until next Thursday. This waiting is killing me and stressing me beyond belief! I’m 48, no time for this not to be benign! No one ever has time to deal with this. I also have Graves’ disease that I have been battling for the past year. My endocrinologist is having a hard time getting that under control and has started talking to me about radiation for my thyroid. Now I may be looking at BC?? Uuugghh
Anyway, sorry for my babbling. I would like to know if anyone else has had to deal with BC and Graves? I know I don’t have my diagnosis yet, but I am the type of person that likes to have knowledge of what might happen just encase it does happen.
Also, has anyone had the calcifications with linear distribution that was benign? I know calcifications are typically benign, but I haven’t seen anything online about the linear cluster ever being benign.

Of course you're worried, who wouldn't be! There's nothing like a lump in the breast to crank up our anxieties. But let's not put the cart before the horse. BIRADs 4 predicts roughly 80% BENIGN. You are right. Microcalcifications aren't usually cancerous, but you never know. That's why you're having it checked out, right? (I had two stereotactic biopsies in the left breast for linear microcalcs, both benign.)
While you're waiting, try not to Google too much. Most of the information on Google will not apply to you and some of it is downright wrong. IMO, there is no reason to grieve something that has not happened and may NEVER happen--that's just a huge suck of wasted energy. If it does indeed turn out to be breast cancer, well, there will be plenty of time to grieve then.
Until you get results, do your best to keep your hands busy. Busy hands will keep your mind busy, too. Anything that you have to concentrate on will do--painting, baking, sewing, cleaning. Nothing too "zen" that allows your mind to wander.
We'll keep our fingers crossed for good news this week. Let us know how it goes.
