Nancy, thank you! Pain relief neosporin? Hmmmm...I do have several tubes of that floating around here. Might be a good idea. I sure don't see how it could hurt. Spray Aquaphor...brilliant. Hope it's on Amazon.
    Thanks so much!!
And I'm glad to know you're on the other side of this, that sure is a plus to have it behind you!

I started out using coconut oil and did that for about 1.5 weeks. However, now I've switched to using Calendula cream since my skin is pinkish. Today I purchased a tube of Miaderm from a compound pharmacy~$40, YIKES. I'd rather have and use these creams than risk getting bad burns.

I used nothing but coconut oil and my skin did great!  I never got that "sunburned" look during treatment.  My RO commented how wonderful my skin looked and it still does three years later.

I went to buy the Aquaphor in a spray today at my local CVS and they were out! I must not be the only person doing radiation in this town. Lol. I will try a different CVS this weekend.

Tewks, I am no where near finished with Rads. I'm on my 4th out of 30 treatments. I'm trying to stay ahead of the game. I hope the Neosporin works for you an the Aquaphor spray. I love the spray, it is a bit greasy but I haven't had a problem with it on my clothes. My RO office also gave me $2 off coupons for it and 2 samples of miaderm, plus my aloe plant I will hopefully be good.

rdeeside, Hope you can find the Aquaphor spray some where.

aquaphor-spray-coupon this is a link for a $2 off coupon. Amazon does have it but no coupon for $8.54.

Have a pleasant day! Speedy recovery for all.

I picked up calendula cream at WFs and Aquaphor at Target. Used a bit of calendula - keeping the greaseoff of sheets and clothes will be a challenge

I start April 4th. My RO suggested Miaderm so I looked it up. It is indeed pricy but if it works as touted then I suppose it's worth it. Did y'all start applying whatever you use prior to starting or after?

LiMa, I started with aloe vera gel and aqua phor day 1. Two weeks in and skin still Ok. Good luck with what ever you choose-- don't think there is one "magic" product!

Beaverntx- thank you. I bought the Aquaphor already, plan on getting either aloe vera or calendula cream also. Glad to hear your skin is holding up well. Hope that continues for you.

I just finished treatments yesterday! The only topical I found to be very helpful in alleviating the skin irritation and burn, especially around my nipple area, was Miaderm. The area didn't start to really look and feel bad until after the 10th treatment. Fortunately, the provider gave me lots of samples to use since it is so expensive.

I am on day 14 of 21 and starting to feel the burn and itch. So far I've got by with Aquaphor, but the RO is recommending over the counter hydrocortisone now.

I used Miaderm and it worked well for me. I did get really red and burned-looking in that final week, but it healed surprisingly fast. Miaderm is expensive, but well worth the extra money in my opinion. Good luck to all of you undergoing radiation. I hope you heal as quickly as I did!

I had 23/24 today and skin is still doing well. A hint from my RO which has really helped: when the little red bumps begin to pop up, dust with cornstarch, wait 5 minutes or so and then apply your moisturizer (I'm using Aquaphor). I've been amazed at the results of doing this. Interested in hearing if this works for anyone else because I suspect one of the reasons my skin is holding up is that I have never tanned easily, much to my chagrin as a teenager, so the effectiveness may be related to skin type?

beaver - I'll try that. I'm getting the red bumps (under my breast).

I'm looking at Miaderm, again, too.

Work in progress, will report back

So I'm done with 21/21 hypofractionated treatments, and things went pretty well. The whole-breast area sunburned, and is now tan, while the boost area has turned pink. Most especially the nipple is red and sensitive.

Beyond that, no pain or itching. All I did was Aquaphor prophylactically, then at bedtime with a white cotton tee. Calendula LOTION during the day. Calendula ointment is just like Aquaphor IMO - one does not need both. That was my routine and all is well
