Hello everyone!

So glad to have found this forum. I am a 35 yo mother to 2 beautiful young children. I recently found a lump on the side of my left breast. I saw my PCP yesterday and he felt it for a good amount of time and determined it was scattered fibrous glandular tissue (my breasts are usually very fatty) but he did order an US and a mamogram for me to put my mind at ease. They still have to call me with an appt but I am worried sick!

I have no family history of any cancer on either side and I nursed both my kids till they were 9 months old. Just worried sick if they find something horrible

Hey! I'm sorry that you have to worry about this. It is very nerve-wracking. I am 32 years old and have found 3 lumps in the last two years (2 in left breast and a large one in the right breast). I had all 3 biopsied and they came back as fibroadenomas. I found another lump last week..so it is back to the doctors and the waiting game. I am on a 6 month monitoring schedule because of my "lump activity". You have a very high chance that it is a cyst or a fibroadenoma. Distract yourself as much as you can. Please keep us posted. Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers.

There is nothing like a lump in the breast to send you right over the edge, am I right? Fortunately, statistics are on your side. Breast cancer is not as common in women under age 45, so there's that. You're doing all the right things having it checked out. Hopefully it will be all good news.

Keep your hands busy--busy hands = busy brain. Sewing, baking, painting, cleaning, singing--things you have to concentrate on to perform well. Resist the urge to look up things on Google. Most of it will not apply to you and it will only make things worse.

Try not to perseverate on the "what ifs". I know that it's hard, but grieving something that has not happened, and may never happen, is just a waste of time and energy. If it turns out to be cancer after all, well, there will be plenty of time to grieve then. Let us know how it goes.

I'm super late to this discussion, but I was wondering if you have found anything out?

I was seen today for a lump, or what I thought was a lump. I noticed it several months ago, and just made it in to see someone. I was told that both of my breasts are fibrous, but that's about it. No added information. But they scheduled me to come back in in a month to have a ultrasound done. So I am very curious to what you were told.

    Hi Delulu

My tests came back alright. The lump I felt was ducta ectesia ( blocked milk ducts)

Fibrocystic breast's are a benign condition and I hope that your doctor is correct and that you find a peace of mind after the Ultrasound.

I would call their office and see if they can fit you in sooner in case they have a cancellation.

Good luck! I know it can be very scary! Try to follow the advice other wonderful women gave me earlier. It really helped me
