Red Spot

Hi everyone I'm Cass. I'm a 23 year old girl and have been concerned with a bruise that turned into a red mark on my left breast. Back in February, my cat jumped on my chest, leaving behind a bruise. The bruise went through its stages after a week, but the red spot never left. It looks like it has broken capillaries in it and is about the size of a dime.

Now this morning after my shower, I noticed another one on my right breast. This one is smaller and less noticeable, but has the same broken blood vessel look.

I've done my monthly exams and found no lumps anywhere, but there does seem to be a small bump beneath the skin under each of these red spots. The older one no longer has a bump but the newer one still does.

Could this be a fungal infection that has taken homage in my breasts? Or could it be breast cancer? I am going to the doctor to get it checked out on Monday.

I should probably add that I've never had kids, I do have severe anxiety, and I have endometriosis. The spots do not hurt or itch. Thank you for your time.

We're sorry to read that you're having breast cancer concerns especially at such a young age.

it's normal to worry about changes in your breasts and Cindy gives some good advice about doing some relaxation exercises as this may ease your anxiety.

Again, you're doing the right thing by seeing your doctor as no one here could ever know what your symptoms mean.

"Breast cancer concerns" over a cat jumping on a breast is over stating it even for this forum. It is shameful the way people with anxiety are not encouraged to seek help away from cancer sites. I worry about people with anxiety who are encouraged to be concerned about cancer when the issue is "fear".

Cass22 if the cat left a mark on your nose or arm would you worry that it was cancer? Please talk to your doctor about your irrational fears.

I wish you comfort. Please talk to someone about your fears. Anxiety can be deadly and you are so young to have these worries. Take care of yourself.

You didn't offend me. I am frustrated by people who are careless with people with anxieties. I have it and I have a daughter who I would want treated carefully.

I think if you talk to your doctor about this they can help and I don't think you should assume it is cancer. For one thing cancer will most often be in one breast only and many things can go wrong with skin. Breasts have skin like the rest of the body so maybe your doctor will refer you to a dermatologist but I think you should not ignore the fact that you have fears that you have cancer when the odds are so low.

I want you to feel peace and visiting a cancer site will encourage the opposite.

Shameful? wrenn, I can only guess that you were responding to me with your comment. I am not quick to advise tests, but when someone has a new thing going on with their breasts AND its worrisome AND they haven't had it checked out yet, I think the wise course of action is to consult a healthcare practitioner.

I am exasperated with the disregard for the harm catering to anxiety can do on this site. So I felt my post was not in any way passive. :-)

I fail to see how telling a very young woman with anxiety issues to seek medical advice for breast changes AND her anxiety could be considered ‘catering’. My son was racked with anxiety disorder in his teens and every one of his therapists I spoke to told me to NEVER tell him it was all in his head or ‘irrational’. The certified professionals told me that for him it was very real, and that only continuous dialogue with a professional would give him the tools he needed to cope. Far be it from me to tell the OP that she’s irrational....especially when there actual has been changes in her breasts. I think that most of the replies here did exactly what was needed....telling her to get the changes and anxiety checked out...for her piece of mind.
