Hello, after mammogram and ultrasound results were reviewed, I have been scheduled for a core needle biopsy next Tuesday. The nurse has already gone over the after care with me and I have printed instructions. My question is whether I'll feel ok to watch my 4 yr old grandson all day the next day. It involves a 1.5 hr drive up and back. I know I shouldn't pick him up, but he's not into that anyway 😊. In short will I be exhausted? Pain?

I am healthy otherwise and in good shape otherwise, although stress factors increasing.

The next day you'll probably be fine. Make sure your grandson is gentle around you though!!!

Of the biopsies I’ve had the only one that was kind of annoyingly painful was the one on the exact underside of my breast. OTC pain meds and those awesome little freezer pads (and lying down a bit) were enough. You’ll be fine but do take it easy and bring along your little pad to do some icing.

I drove myself home and stopped and bought groceries on the way. My clinic makes a point of telling you you will be fine to drive yourself. I had bruising for quite a while, but nothing particularly painful-more vaguely annoying for a day or two. I'm a paralegal and lift really heavy files out of drawers at shoulder level and it was fine the next day.

We usually recommended patients not lift anything 10 pounds or over for 24 hours after a core biopsy to avoid bleeding

Well, even heavy files don't weigh ten pounds. I was told a lifting limit, and presumably she will be too

I've got a 5 lb limit on the biopsy side. No mention of the other side. I think I'll be ok based on what everyone has said.

    Thanks!
