Pain in left breast. More confused after ultrasound

Hello, I am a 29 year old women who has been having left breast pain for a few months, about 4, it finally got to a point that I decided to go to my GP. She ordered an ultrasound which I got yesterday but I’m more confused now that I was before. The radiologist came in and said the right breast has a cyst, which causes me no pain. And the left breast is dense but found a lump that measures 4x6 mm. He said possibly a fibroadenoma or lymph node. He categorized it as a Birads 3. But really didn’t explain anything or make me feel any better. I go back in 6 months for a recheck. Should I be worried with that rating? Also, I saw pain normal with a fibroadenoma? He say she no but then why does my breast hurt? My anxiety is extremely high and I’m not ton sure I can wait 6 months for another ultrasound. Has anyone else has a Birads 3 rating and what were your results? Help I make worried and so confused.

Hi Heather,
I Had a Birads 3 and my lump was Also the same size of yours. As you, I freaked out few days, but my Doctor reassured me that it was pretty normal. He had indicate me a MRI just in case I couldnt handle my anxiety, but I decided to wait and recheck in 6 months. The lump is in my left breast as well and i feel the area where it is more tender around my period.
Try to not worry so much. The radiologists are very aware and in face of a minimal chance of being Cancer they Wont let you leave without a biopsy.

Thanks Hanna, my main concern is it is incredibly painful and tender mainly in my nipple area. Mine is located at the 6:00 position. I also have the depoprovera birth control shot so I do not have periods to know if it is worse around that time I worked myself into a tizzy because I googled the life out of it and found where people said most fibroadenomas are at the top of the breast. I have no pain where they say it actually is. Can you feel yours? I can not mine. It says in the report that it is in the chest wall. So I thought I'd feel it. My doctors weren't all that reassuring. They kind of just said “oh it's ok just come back in 6 months" and I asked questions but got a “doctor" response which only confused me lol. So did you go back for your 6 month recheck yet or is that still in the future? I'm sorry to bombard you, just interested since yours isn't just like mine.
thank you so much for for your response

hi Heather8225!
I Will recheck in a month and i cannot feel mine too. Mine is at 8'o clock position. I think your pain maybe hormonal related.
You know, Google is a very bad guy. Once you put the words “lump" and “breast" in the small researching Box all the horror histories Will pop up. Dont be afraid of them ( i know, better said than done lol).
I dont think you have something to Worry, but you can consider a MRI just in case to have a peace of mind. Also, you can share your report with Djmammo, maybe he can give you an advise better than mine!

I am having huge swelling under my right armpit and my right breast is painful mostly around nipple. U/S showed nothing only fat, I went to another doctor he physically examined and said it is fibroadenoma and gave me painkiller... but now my right breast is itchy all the time and pain is still there ... not sure what to do, No one took me serious because of my age I'm 22
-
Google is a very bad idea for any illness lol. and Yeah I’m just going to try and not worry too much about it. I’m sure it is hormone related too but not having a period makes it hard to keep track. My doctor said to wait a couple weeks and if thenpain doesn’t come go away we will do more testing. So we shall see. If you happen to remember, let me know how your ultrasound goes!
-
Tahrem I think our anxiety creates pain and other symptoms when we are over thinking things. But if you are that worried I'd definitely push for more testing. Nothing will ease your mind until you know for sure. I'm struggling with this also. Be demanding
-
Heather I went to another surgeon he physically examined and said my right breast is hard as comapre to left, he asked to come back after ultrasound, but my ultrasound appeared normal. He's saying it is fibroadenoma and gave me painkiller and was saying if pain doesn't get better surgery will be required
-
What does your pain feel like? If you don’t mind me asking.
-
It feels like stabbing pain in nipple and area around nipple, pain start remains for a certain period and the goes. But when I touch or lay down on this side then again pain starts.
-
ahh yes I somewhat have that also. But I also have this weird soreness. Almost like when you have a bruise and press on it. But it’s constant sometimes. And goes up into my neck and shoulders. Blah
-
Tell them you want an answer now and not in 6 months. It's already something you've been experiencing for awhile and they can do more to figure it out. A breast MRI or a biopsy can get more information (you're a bit too young to trust a mammogram). It's likely you can trust their assessment and you don't have anything to worry about but, in my experience, they don't take young women's concerns seriously so make sure you advocate for yourself.
-
most definitely. I’ve alrwady requested more testing and will find out what’s next on Monday. I’m lucky enough that I have a very good family doctor that listens to me and my concerns. I’m sure it’s nothing also but with how bad I have anxiety, I’d rather not wait the 6 months. And I agree young women aren’t listened to enough about this type of thing.
