edited April 2018 in Not Diagnosed But Worried

Need advice please, I've had a lump, that is now the size of a long grape, for a couple of years. I went in for my annual GYN visit in Oct 2017 not feeling well, low grade fevers, aches and pains. I didn't say anything but waited to see if GYN would feel the lump and she did. She was concerned and sent for for diagnostic mammo and US. It's on the bottom of breast near the chest wall, the mammo didn't pick up anything irregular, and US literally could not find it, although the tech could feel it.

Six months later I have off and on itchy breasts (both), blood in my urine (but no signs of infection), low kidney function (59), running temps of about 100 every day, headaches all day every day, feeling absolutely horrible like the flu, both calves are tight and painful, lower and upper back and shoulders are burning with pain, as well as my chest when I take a deep breath (along with a cough that comes and goes). I went from running five miles a day two years ago and being in perfect health at 44yo, to feeling like I'm dying if I take a walk (really) at 46.

PCP referred me to rheumy doc, but I'm thinking a breast surgeon should take a better look at that lump and evaluate. Or is my mind just running away with me????? Please offer opinions. How would I even go about finding a breast surgeon? I'm in northern Colorado...am I looking for an Oncology doctor who specializes in breast cancer?

What about an MRI? Or a breast surgeon to have it biopsied?

It sounds like you have more than one thing going on here. I wouldn't think the breast lump would have anything to do with the low grade fevers, headaches, and body aches. Perhaps you need a rheumatologist AND a breast surgeon. The BS can order mammo, ultrasound, and MRI. Hopefully you won't need an oncologist at all

Thanks for confirming that. I just really don't know what direction to go in. And wasn't sure if I was over reacting just going to a breast surgeon.

    This stuff is scary. :(

    You aren't over-reacting.

Everyone in my family has an autoimmune disorder, so i am very familiar with rheumatology issues. Your symptoms sound worrisome to me. Definitely follow up with the breast surgeon, but I urge you to talk with a rheumatologist about your generalized symptoms. Something isn't right.

Mustlovepoodles, I've made an appt with rheumy and also a kidney doc. as well. I have no idea where or how to find a good breast surgeon or even where to start, my insurance doesn't have that in their list of docs. As soon as I can figure that out, I'll make an appointment there too, because that lump is growing and now feels like two next to each other. And my head is just pounding all day every day. You're right, something is off... it'll be a puzzle to solve. Thanks! I'll update.

Can you ask for a recommendation from your PCP? or your local hospital? I would suggest seeing a breast specialist, rather than a general surgeon, if at all possible.

I could ask my PCP, she wasn't much help in the rheum department though. I'll give it a try :)
