    Kay, it is so great that your husband has actually gained weight. Your may have found the key. Did the Cleveland Clinic ever suggest that his condition might be a reaction to chemicals in food or environment. There is an old National Geographic (Oct. 2006) that I just started reading today. There is an article about all the chemicals we all have in our bodies one way or another and the possible effects, especially on children. It is so scary. Then of course there are the medicines that we take that didn't exist 20 years ago. I definitely blame my breast cancer on Prempro, I'm glad that now women have stopped taking this stuff and breast cancer rates are dropping. As a teacher for 37 years I definitely noticed the difference in kids behavior. Lots of it can be blamed on tv and video games & lack of parental care, but I think a lot of it has to do with what they eat and the chemicals in things we use. I hope your husband continues to improve.

    I got so carried away by Kay's husband's health that I forgot to thank all those of you who sent good wishes. My CAT scan is scheduled for Thursday a.m., but I probably won't get the results until Tuesday because of the pulmonologist's schedule, although my orthopedist promised to bug him. Until they tell me otherwise, I'm going to attribute it to pneumonia or a lung infection, although either would delay my knee replacement which I've now decided I want desperately.

    I like the Wings of Hope as a team name, too. I’ll definitely be there. Had a lot of fun last year!

    Anne – It’s good to hear from you. How’s treatment and the new job going?

    Ann – I hope all the prayers work and everything goes well tomorrow. Be sure to let us know. Seems like you’ve had more than your share of problems lately. Hopefully, this will be nothing and you can get your new knee. And who can blame you if you “catastrophize” a little? We would all do the same.

    Kay – I’m so glad to hear your husband’s doing better. Great news! I’m so glad you figured out what was wrong. And dismayed that none of his doctors were able to figure out that was the problem. Please keep us posted on how he does.

    Janis – It’d be great to meet you. Brighton is okay with me, if someone will tell me how to get there!

    Speaking of which…..should we set a date? It looks like the best dates are 2/3 and 3/10. There were equal numbers for both dates. We could do one or both of those. I’d be up for both. Any opinions/suggestions?

    Today’s my two year anniversary. Woo hoo! I decided to make the date I had my lymph nodes removed my anniversary. I’d much rather celebrate having the (hopefully) last of the cancer taken out than being diagnosed. Two down, fifty to go!

    I'm okay to have knee replacement on Wednesday, so I won't be able to make a get-together in Feb. because I won't be able to drive, but if there is one in March, I will try to make that one.

    That's good news and bad news--good that you can have your knee replaced, bad that you can't make a Feb get together. Depending on when/where it is, maybe one of us could give you a lift?

    I'm also a 3 year survivor! I haven't met these "wonderful" Michigan ladies yet, but hope to soon! Ladies, let me know when you come up with a date. My schedule is hit or miss and somewhat flexable, so I have no input as to a date..........just hope I can make it.

    Great news about your DH, Kay. I thought I posted about that earlier but don't see my last post!

    It will be nice to meet the new ladies. I think March is better for me to meet but I'm not as flexible as I used to be since my mom is in the nursing home.

    Miss you guys and hope you are hanging in there.

    I mentioned the June walk to my clinical trials nurse yesterday at treatment (anybody else know Joyce at Troy Beaumont?) and she was telling me all about it. She's got me all excited about this. I was actually disappointed when she said it was only 3K or so. :-P

    I was thinking last night(I love steriods) and I remember something being said about hats or t-shirts. Is the plan to go professional or get crafty with them? I'm geeked and it's only January. How are you going to stand me for 5 more months? :-)

    So glad you're walking!! I've walked the past 3 years with my Daughter, Sisters and Nieces. There is something about seeing all the Pink together that puts you in a wonderful mood. Atmosphere is wonderful!

    I would also love to meet some of my Michigan Sisters. I'm south of Flint, so Brighton would be great for me as well, but I'm willing to travel further south if that's what the group decides.

    3/10 sounds good to me as well. Now we just have to decide where. Funny I picked Painted Fancy because I have a paint horse whose name is Fancy! So Fancy2 and I seem to have alot in common. My friend Sue who is a 1 1/2 yrs ahead of me in treatment just got the news last week that her cancer has met. into her back bone. This disease leaves me feeling so angry so many times. Thanks for the great support here! I'm heading over to read Candi's post.

    We leave for vacation on the 16th of June. actually 3/10 will WORK for me!!! There are a TON of restaurants in Brighton. I am sure there has to be an Olive Garden or Applebees.

    I am in for 3/10. I will mark my calendar.

    Julie – Welcome! It’s so funny you both have a horse named Fancy. I’m so sorry about your friend. This disease sucks.

    3/10 works for me, too. Can someone from that side of town pick a place? Is there somewhere that’s close to something else in case we want to do something after? It was fun walking around Canterbury Village last time. Gave us more time to chat without having a waiter waiting for us to leave.

    It's nothing scary, just something to get us noticed you know like how the Flamingo Team got noticed with their cute little head thingy.

    I was thinking about head boppers with butterflies (to go along with the name Wings Of Hope, if the Team decides to change the name). I know some might not like to wear head thingys and you wouldn't have to wear it the whole time if you didn't want to. Maybe for the Team picture, Nancy aka Team Captain could we do that this year and for the start of the race?

    It's just an idea and if no one would be up for it then no worries and no offense taken.

    What I'm thinking of are head bands called head boppers. You could wear them in place of the Survivor cap or in addition to it.

    March 10th. sounds good to me! There are alot of restaurants in Brighton...........I haven't been to alot of them, some chains and some privately owned. I'm voting for Kay to pick one out! She knows the area and you ladies and more of the type of place you usually meet in! (Wow, that's called "passing the buck"!) There's a boardwalk along the river if the weather permits, and a new Outside Mall....again weather permitting. Just thought of this one. We have a "tea room" in Hartland. Never been to this one but have heard good things about it. Kinda fun (the one I've been to). Small place, proper tea and lunch. If interested, I will check into it. By "proper" I mean like Old Fashioned afternoon tea time, not classy, snobbish!

    Map of Brighton with restaurants

    Last time I tried this, I sent shel to California! Here is a map of Brighton and if you look on the right, you can check off which restaurants you want to see. Just tell me where to go and I’ll be there. The Tea Room sounds nice if it isn’t to “foofy”. There is a Panera Bread around there and I think it was Irene that wanted to try that.

    Warning, Warning.!!!!! The new mall on 23 is very nice but it has a DOUBLE ROUNDABOUT to enter and exit it off the highway. Now I do not have much experience with any roundabout except maybe in Boston. I drove through this one where I was driving and my friend was navigating. I totally freaked out and ended back on the highway. Cars are coming into the circle from all directions and everyone seems to have a yield sign so I can’t tell you how confusing it was. The problem also is that when you get back on the highway (say southbound) and then turn around and make your way north, the roundabout is on both north and south bound exits. I like to think I no longer have chemo brain, so if I was this confused without chemo brain, I cannot imagine someone with chemo brain trying to navigate it. What the heck were they thinking when they made this?

    Kats, I love the idea of the bobble hats and butterflies. Please keep up your creativity since I am lacking in that area. I’ll let the group decide. You are so modest about your skills. I usually will not wear the pink ribbon stuff but this is one day of the year that I like to go all out. We are showing our humor and giving hope to other survivors since we are such a big survivor team. I’m still aiming for the team with the most survivors! The church ladies can’t win every year.

    Anna hasn’t checked in since her surgery and where is Kay (fancy)? Hope everyone is well. I’m looking forward to 3/10.

    Oh, the dreaded round about...........Who the heck dreamed that thing up. It's one way of keeping us away from the mall! I've managed going from Lee Rd. to N. Whitmore (old 23). That thing freaks me out!

    Before Christmas Mitch Albom (of WJR) was in Brighton doing signings of his most recent book, and he was talking on his radio show about how he and his producer got lost on that roundabout, too. I avoid the one in my area like the plague!!! :-P

    I might try adrionna's (Denise's) Lee Rd. route to avoid the roundabout. It's a nice mall and has more clothes in ... ahemm...'our age group'. Not that I dress 'old' but most of the malls have teeny-bopper shops it seems.

    Ok - the news is that we can sign up for the Komen race NOW! So, should I put together the team with a new name? What did everyone think about the names Kats suggested? Should I do a poll? "Wings of Hope", "On the Wings of Hope for a Cure" or the old name "Breastcancer.org, Cybersisters and Friends"?
