Hello everyone. So my issue started right before christmas. I found a good sidlze lump in my left breast. I pushed it out of my mind till the holidays where over. I went to my doctor in January and she was able to feel the lump. She then refered me to Breast Health center for a mamogram and Ultrasound. Sure enough the lump showed up on both. A week later I went back for my core needle biopsy. A few days later the results where in...Benign. Thank god. I was told because of the size(4cm) I was to come back in 3 months to see if it grows. Fast forward to 3 weeks ago. I went back and sure enough it grew to 7 CM. I was then refered to a surgeon. I met with him last friday and he said he was concerned with the fast growth. He wanted it out. Thursday I am scheduled for my surgery. I am a very relaxed person but can't help to question my original biopsy results. Has this happened to anyone? The fast growth I mean. Any surgery tips would be appreciated also. Thanks so much!

Today is Thursday, so I expect you’re in surgery right now. My surgery to remove a fibroadenoma from my left breast six years ago went well, and I’ve never had a recurrence. These benign tumors grow on estrogen, which declines with age, so your risk of recurrence will be declining, not increasing. Your breast will be sore for a few days, but that’s all, you should have no lasting scar. Good you’re having it out. A very small percentage of fibroadenoma can become cancerous—1%. The same is true for uterine fibroid tumors. Best to have these abnormalities removed. Your natural estrogen can make them grow, until you reach menopause, which could make it bothersome, and possibly dangerous to your health. I think you made the right choice to have surgery. Good luck with your recovery! Genie in NC

Eugenia2 I'm having swelling under my right armpit and pain in right breast. U/S was clear nothing was found. So I went to another doctor he just checked physically and said it is fibroadenoma... I am having huge pain, thinking to get another opinion..
