Chemo therapy

I was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer this year and I tested positive for the BRCA2 gene. I had a double mastectomy last month and plan to start chemo next week. I am doing the AC treatment and I am petrified. Has anyone else used this type of chemo? Any recommendations? Have you heard about permanent hair loss for this treatment?

I did. My best advice is to drink lots of fluids, take the anti nausea meds prescribed and listen to your body when it wants to rest. I had AC every 3 weeks for 4 cycles. About 48 hours after treatment, I felt super tired and nauseous. It lasted about 3 days and then i was much better. Not everyone is the same though. I napped often and felt better for it. I lost my hair about 2 weeks after the first treatment but it has grown back, thick and curly a year PFC.

    Good luck to you!

I am triple negative as well. I am going to have my last AC chemo tomorrow. I had 4 cycles two weeks apart and before that I have 12 weeks of Taxol/Taxotere. During AC I feel awful for almost a week after the infusion. Just tired. I have not felt nauseous and no body aches despite the Nuelasta. The second week I feel just fine.

During chemo I have exercised daily (a 30 minute video with light weights, some cardio and some abs) and eaten more fruits and veggies and cut out white bread, white pasta and white rice. These life style changes have helped me to feel really good and have minimized side affects. I had 5 months of chemo and even at the end I feel pretty good.
