Incorrect Placement of Titanium Marker

Hi. Today I had a breast biopsy. A mammogram showed a small spot; a follow up sonogram showed three, and they biopsied the largest, then placed a titanium marker.

Immediately after the biopsy they did another mammogram to make sure that the marker was on the origial spot. The doctor came in afterward and said it wasn't—that there must be more spots. She said they would just wait for the results of this biopsy, and if it's negative, we will follow up in 6 months. But this is all confusing to me. Did they biopsy the wrong area today?

My original category was BIRAD 4.

Hi Diane, in your shoes I’d put a call into the doctor to get your questions answered regarding what happened. I’d want to know the very same thing. Wishing you good results, keep us posted please

I was given a printout by a billing clerk that showed the charge for my marker so being curious I googled it. The markup reminds me of the Pentagon! Sounds like quite a money-maker.
