Breast Dent.
hi. Im 40 years old last month Husband noticed a dent/dimple in the lower part of my right breast. Its only noticable when I raise my arm. Have been to Gp he sees the dip too and referal to breast imaging is in progress I have to wait 3 weeks. Trying not to google as everything is pointing to Cancer. Im looking for any suggestions other than that.
Besides the dip, right breast is a bit larger than the left and it feels more tender. Some days I want to rip it open and itch behind my breast. No discharge no nipple change no thickening of skin just a dent.
Anyone care to share ideas. 3 weeks is a long wait.

I have been going through a similar stuggle you can go through my post if you like. Almost all the info you can find on indents say it's cancer.
In my own research I have come across some benign possibilities.
1) natural breast changes due to
- breast feeding
- weight loss/gain
- heavy/large breast
- weakening ligaments in breast
2) benign growth/tumor
- fat necrosis
- fibroadenima
- cyst
- and others too
Like everyone here says most breast changes are bening, up to 80% so try to stay calm because statistics is on your side.
If ultrasound and mammograms are inconclusive ask for an MRI. Some women here mention how they had a indent/dimple and had clear ultrasound and mammograms but MRI found something sometimes good and sometimes bad and if you ask them they will say to demand an MRI.
The problem with MRI is is they usually only give them to women who are high risk because of genetic mutation or family history of breast, ovarian, pancreatic, and male breast cancer typical in immediate family. Or who have already been diagnosed.
So if you want one I would suggest looking for your insurance and hospitals guidelines for a breast MRI thats what I did, and if not I belive a breast surgeon can make a case for one if they think it's necessary but you have to be firm otherwise they tend to brush you off.
As for me I only had a ultrasound because I am 20 and can't have a mammogram. It was clean they didn't see anything wrong. But because of anxiety and a family history of a young family member (45) I was eligible for an MRI and am waiting to schedule that. I might have to wait another month, if im luck maybe I can have it this upcoming week.
I'll update you on what happens and hope to hear updates with you. Praying for benign results for you.

Thanks for the quick reply.
I have had a mamo 2 years ago and they found low density and a b9 nodule. I was thinking maybe the nodule has grown and thats whats caused the dent. Im not one to stress until I have something to stress about but everything I have looked up comes back to doom and gloom.

That could be it.
Not to be a party pooper I had an aunt who had mammograms every year and they never saw anything. She was the one who felt a small pea size lump and went in to ask about it and unluckily for her it was cancer but she found it early at stage 2 and is 7 year out cancer free.
But either way its good that you are going to get it checked out, maybe you can call and see if to you can be seen earlier. Also did they not take a biopsy of the nodule? I'm assuming they did because you said it was benign, if you did and it was in that spot maybe it left some scaring and that's causing the indentation.

no biopsy taken the specalist said by apperance they were almost certan it was benign.
I live in a small town and the breast team only visit here once a month so I have to wait for the 26th. I think Im more annoyed by the wait than worried about the dent.
Thanks for the replies though.
