Nipple discharge and breast clinic

Hi everyone new here so hope this is the right place to post this.

I went to breast clinic last week after having nipple discharge for the past 9 weeks.

The discharge has been clear/yellow/orange/rusty then went to pure red blood then back to orange and now is a orangy colour.

The doctor at breast clinic alsonsaid i had a split inversion in the nipple where the discharge is coming from.

He did a discharge smear test and a ultra sound the US showed nothing at all but we have to wait for pathology on smear test now.

He said if it comes back fine he will ring and discharge me if not he will make another appointment to come back in.

I'm not happy with the if the smear test comes back fine he will discharge me bit as its not been explained why its coming out in the first place. If the pathology comes back ok am I ok to as for more test to be run to find out what's actually going on?

    Sorry, Bbam123 to hear about what you are going through. Hopefully your doctor will be able to explain what the discharge is about, even if the pathology report comes back fine. It would be good to push to get a better understanding, and what to do if this persists.

    Hang in there, and fingers crossed that all is fine, and that your doctor can help figure out what is going on!

    I have a similar discharge, left only, spontaneous... Fortunately, my clinic took it very seriously, my breast tissue is so dense, mammogram showed nothing, and neither did ultrasound, so they ordered an MRI and found a small mass under the nipple, duct ectasia. Most likely papilloma. Needle core biopsy itself was not painful, but the pressing on my breast to stop the bleeding as excruciating. But then for me, Mammograms are excruciating. The biopsy was negative for cancer, but they said that recurrent papilloma is common and the more papilloma the greater the chance it becomes cancer, so they are going to do a central duct excision to remove the entire mass and hopefully the ducts that were causing the problem. I feel very well cared for at the Mercy Breast Center, Rogers, AR. I meet with the surgeon May 1. Expect the surgery soon after. Will share my experience here.
