edited April 2018 in Not Diagnosed But Worried

About a week or so ago I discovered a pretty small hard ball like lump, not moveable under my armpit. It’s not on the surface of my skin but deeper within. I am 5 months pregnant and am hoping it may just be hormone related. My next dr appt is in a week but was wondering how small others have found lumps unde skin and under armpit area and what it ended up being?

Thanks in advance for your responses!

I didn't have a lump, so I'm not sure what to say except... have it checked. It quite possibly could be nothing, but yet you want to be safe, just in case. There's no harm in having your doc feel it. Wishing you the very best. Pls come back and let us know.

Get it checked, but there are lots of benign things like cysts that it could be. Sebaceous cysts in your axilla are really common.

    Hi,

Years ago I had a small lump and went to my OB, it was about the size of a pea and just between armpit and breast. Went for diagnostic mammo, and ultrasound. Turned out to be a lymph node. Also, just FYI.. I am a high risk OB RN Case manager and worked inpatient for 12 years in high risk OB and labor and delivery.. without diagnosing, because I can't do that as a nurse, but hormones are crazy when you are pregnant and so many things change temporarily. Just bring it up on your next OB visit. :) I would bet money that it was nothing, but I wouldn't recommend ignoring or not talking to OB about.

Both sides or just one side?

If you had ever had a mammogram before, ask to see the report to check if you have any breast tissue situated very near the arm pit. It would be referred to in the report as "ectopic breast tissue". It is a normal variant and can enlarge with pregnancy enough to be seen across a room. Let us know what your imaging studies show.

Just one side. I have never had a mammogram either. It is just a tiny shaped hard ball, no pain, and does not move. Just strange.

Thank you all for your responses, never know if I am being silly or actually something to worry about.

No, you're not being silly. Lumps, even tiny bbn ones need to be checked. This is most likely to be benign, but there is always the very slight possibility that it's not. You need to get it checked. Let us know how it goes.
