Hello,

Yesterday I had a single papilloma removed that was deep in my breast at the 6:00 position. The initial core biopsy was negative for cancer, so they were just removing the papilloma. Couple of questions:

I had a wire localization before my surgery. Would that along with the surgery cause an achiness up to my armpit?

My breast is swollen, burnin and achy even after taking 1/2 a pain pill. I'm assuming that is normal. Is it to late to ice it?

Right before I went to "sleep" on the operating table, I saw writing on the board that said Right Breast Excision/Lumpectomy. Is a excision the same thing as a lumpectomy?

Thanks for helping me get theough this.

my arm pit was sore and when I asked why the doctor sort of showed how its a small space to work on and maybe the surgeon was leaning on my arm pit area. the soreness went away. Ive noticed that the deeper the removal the more achy I was. that too will get better very soon. its never too late to ice :) I was always informed to keep a sports bra on for the compression ( front zip up helps a lot) . and yes excision and lumpectomy are the same thing really. you will get odd twinges every now again for a while. the nerves are just doing their thing.. which agian is total normal

Not too late to ice it at all! I had my excision biopsy on 3/30 and I'm still achy and sore on and off. Sports bras really help. Walmart has a Danskin brand that has a zipper front and it has been such a help. I had bought some back closing sports bras but material is more irritating. I've also been sleeping sitting up and that seems to help too. Good luck
