Bleeding on Zoladex (Zoladex-Only Hormonal Therapy)

Options

Hi everyone!

Before I go on, I want to be perfectly clear-- I am ONLY taking Zoladex, I am NOT on Tamoxifen or Anastrazole/Arimidex, in spite of my doctor's orders.

I've been on Zoladex for about 14 months now. And a couple months back I started getting what seems like a period. I get premenstrual cramps, then I bleed for about 7 days, then it goes away. Just like a period. Now this month, I got the "period" and it went away. And now maybe like a week and a half later, maybe 2 weeks, I'm getting light little random spots of blood.

I've seen TONs and TOns of posts talking about the Tamoxifen causing bleeding, and the Anastrozole causing whatever, but I haven't found anything about anyone only doing the Zoladex.

Is there anyone going through the same? or at the very least, is anyone experiencing period-like bleeding after being on Zoladex for so long?

Is your doctor checking your estrogen levels? When I started zoladex, my MO had to check the estrogen levels 3 weeks after first shot to make sure it was working and thatI was able to be suppressed. He said there are a certain percentage of people who cannot be suppressed with Zoladex so they always check the estrogen levels before hewould let me take AI's as the AI's would be useless if not able to be suppressed. I eventually had my ovaries removed but my MO checked monthly estrogen levels and they were virtually undetectable while I was on the zoladex. Check with your MO as you might fall in the category of unable to be suppressed.

I’m taking Lupron, but I think after a while the shots can stop working for some people. I would definitely bring this up with your MO
