Radiation delayed- need to vent.

Options

I have DCIS and caught it early, so I know I should count my blessings, but lemme vent for a sec. I met with the RO on March 15 and because my DCIS pathology report said high grade, she wanted to send it out for Oncotype. I was out of town all last week so I was scheduled to meet with her this Thursday, April 5, to discuss results and what my radiation plan might look like. I called to make sure the Oncotype results were in and learned that the tumor never got sent out because of a screwup in the pathology lab. My new appointment is now April 17. I'm so frustrated - I found the lump a few days before Christmas, had a lumpectomy on Feb. 23, and I feel like I'm languishing in limbo. I wish someone had told me at the beginning of all this how much cancer involves waiting and how the journey is not linear; it seems like it is often two steps forward, one step back.

I hear ya Ready!  I had surgery on Jan 31st, RO scraped my plan, so I had to get re-mapped in the prone position (which I'm fine with)-but they called today to say they need more time making the new plan and pushed me out another week for 2nd simulation which is now Apr 17th. March 8th was my consult visit.  You're right, it's hurry up and wait now.  I too was frustrated, so I made myself an OB/GYN check up appt. even though it was advised by the nurse navigator that it could wait.  Now I feel like I controlled something and something else will get done sooner rather than later.
