Two painful masses and a swollen lymph node
hey there. I'm more or less just posting this to get it off my chest. I'm worried, but don't want a bunch of people I know knowing about this until results come back.
Let me start by saying I am a new mom who has breast fed for 11weeks by exclusively pumping. I did battle mastitis in this breast (right) a month or so ago and was treated immediately with 3 rounds of antibiotics. Throughout the past few months I have been noticing a bruised achy feeling in my breast but thought it was likely just engorgment. I had brought up to my OBGYN that I felt a marble sized lump in my upper/outer quadrant of my right breast he said not to worry as it was likely just at a duct. However, in the past feeble days I have noticed a rather large mass at 6oclock and a small one at 2oclock, as well as that's marble sized lump near my armpit. Since it has become painful I was worried about an abscess from the previous bout of mastitis so I went to a walk In clinic. She was unsure of what these were so she sent me for an ultrasound. When I got there, I was then bounced back and forth between ultrasounds and mammograms. In total I had 3 ultrasounds and two mammograms. The radiologist came in for the last scan and after several moments of pushing on the mass to see if there was any fluid or pus inside, he advised that this is not an abscess as it is a completely solid mass. He said a couple times that he has absolutely no idea what it is at this point. They also noted that my lymph node was quite enlarged but that they didn't know why. I do not have any symptoms of mastitis, so I couldn't see it being that. I also notice, when standing in front of the mirror, that the bottom of my breast where the largest mass is seen ever so slightly flat instead of rounded per normal. On coarse I'm not sure if there is any nipple discharge since I am lactating and sometimes bloody milk is something that happens due to a cracked nipple etc. my nipples are also quite red often just from the constant pumping. They are having me come in for a needle biopsy Monday and I am so worried and unsure of what to expect. I am 26 and literally just had a baby less that 3 months ago, so this definitely how I expected this to go.

Here is some information on US guided breast biopsy (technical information)
As far as the experience of it is concerned I will let the other members relate their actual experiences. My experience is that over the years the majority of patients have told me it was no where near as bad as they expected or were told by friends (apparently some 'friends' love to tell horror stories). Let us know how it goes.
