Liposuction fat transfer for mastectomy scars

Options

i met with PS about removing dog ears left over from double mastectomy 18 months ago. He can do that in office. He offered to do liposuction and transfer fat from sides to fill in scars that especially on one side are a bit concave. That means twilight sleep in surgery center. About 1 1/2 hours. I thought about trying and actually have scheduled it. But then i heard your body can absorb the transferred fat and be back to square one. Anyone had this done?? Medicare pays and apparently pays to redo it once

Hi graciejane and welcome to Breastcancer.org,

We wanted to drop a line to say hi and let you know it's a little quiet around here on the weekends, so don't be discouraged that you haven't received any responses just yet -- hopefully someone will be by soon to weigh in with their thoughts and experience!

You know it does get reabsorbed, but insurance will pay for these touch ups. I am 5 years since my DIEP and I think I might get it done in the fall again. I remember it being sore but wearing the garment helps. I also bruise very easy so I want to hide the bruising with shirt. Also I had a cortisone shot along a scar line and that smoothed it out.
