Hi, I'm new to this site. At this moment, I am jumping out of my skin. I went for my mammo on Monday 3/26/18 on Tuesday I get a phone call that I have architectural distortion.......there is a "bleep" on the xray......what is a bleep I asked. Just said it is showing alittle difference since my last mammo. I didn't get one done last year.....I know.....but my mom got sick ended up in a nursing home....had to deal with Medicaid....blah blah....but I knew I needed to get it done. I'm 56 white female. So now I have to get this 3d view with tomo done. The earliest appt. I could get was 4/10. I'm so scared and worried. I don't know if I should be worried. I asked could it be cancer and you all know the answer "let's wait to do the test". Thanks for listening.

cardlady, sorry you are dealing with this, but the good news is it is way too early to get very worried. Often more views clear things up or "compress out" whatever they thought they saw, or on closer look appears clearly benign. Try not to make yourself nuts in the meantime.

Hi Cardlady, Melissa is right, way too early to get worried. I just went through the call back process and went nuts for 3 weeks...turned out a portion of my skin folded over making an area look different from my last mammogram. Basically I went crazy for nothing. Call backs are VERY common, they have to be sure and leave nothing to chance...which is a good thing! There are benign causes of architectural distortion, as there are for many findings. I know it’s worrisome, but breath easy knowing that a vast majority of call backs turn out benign. Keep us posted
