My doctor referred me and it may be a couple of weeks before I get in. I mainly wanted to be fitted for a sleeve for when I fly. The breast surgeon says I don't need it, and the Radiation oncologist suggested a referral however said I may not even need it.

I'm still going to OT/Hand Therapist who is able to decrease the fluid in my arm, it's very minimal. When I had a tumor taken out of my other arm (radial nerve) it took about 2 years for the fluid to equalize and not have a little bit of puffiness in my arm/hand.

Needing advice about what questions to ask the specialist? Thanks.

Good idea to get a sleeve prior to air travel. Also inquire about a glove or gauntlet in order to protect your hand. Find out how often periodic rechecks for taking measurements, assessing possible fibrosis, etc. are suggested

I plan to see my LE person in a few months since I'll have met my deductibles by then and it's been a couple years. Although I think my arm is stable, I like to get an objective opinion. When living with a chronic condition, it's easy for us to become unaware of gradual changes over a long time.

If you already have fluid in your arm, even if minimal, definitely a sleeve and gauntlet for flying!!

Girls are right, yes to hand and sleeve garment if even a bit of swelling. Before you fly start getting use to garments by wearing a couple hours a day and to make sure they fit. Also use while exercising.

Thanks. I see the OT lymphadema Specialist next month and she's really busy and there's no openings until then.
