Question about pathology report?

Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone would be able to explain to me what the following means, since I found it in my pathology report:

"- Markedly atypical ductal hyperplasia is present <1 mm from the superior and posterior margins"

Does this mean the ADH they found was <1mm? Or something else? Sorry for posting this here, my doctor's office is extremely busy and takes a while to respond. I am meeting with them to talk about this result in May, but until then I was just wondering if anyone knew what this meant. Thanks :)

    It means the ADH is present less the 1mm from the margins/edges of the biopsy/lumpectomy on the superior and posterior side.

    Good morning. Belle East is right. Sounds like your excisional biopsy found ADH and while they removed it, it was found within the 1 cm border that surgeons like to be "clean." That may not really matter since it wasn't cancer but something to discuss with your surgeon in terms of future monitoring or maybe even preventative treatment if you want to be super aggressive.

    Sometimes they can't get a bigger margin. I had a posterior margin of less than 0.5 mm. The breast surgeon said he couldn't get a bigger margin without cutting into the chest muscle. He said I would receive radiation boosts to that area to take care of it, which I did
