Lift and reduction any regrets

I'm on the fence whether I regret my decision to get my healthy breast operated on after a DIEP reconstruction. The main reason I did it was that my remaining nipple was an inch or so lower than the place where a new nipple or tattoo would go on the DIEP breast. The PS didn't want to do a reduction because the two breasts weren't all that different in size (D versus C?) . Instead he plumped up the DIEP breast to D with fat grafting and moved the nipple/areola in the healthy breast higher in what's called a "donut" lift. If you read about donut lifts online, it says "don't do this on large breasts!", because it ends up with puckers in the upper breast skin and an unnatural shape. That's sort of what I got - it isn't terrible, but the breast shape is a bit square and there are ripples that probably won't go away. I'll learn to ignore that, I guess. SInce you are having a real reduction, you shouldn't have that issue.

You shouldn't lose sensation in the nipple - no nerves are cut. Mine is actually a bit over-sensitive (4 months post-surgery). I'll need to have the areola tattooed to match the DIEP breast 3-D tattoo I plan to get, because the PS didn't save the entire areola during the lift, so it's smaller than it should be. There's still a raised scar around the areola, but that should fade over time.
