I can't quite believe i'm here writing this at 22 years of age but here I am!

Around 2 months ago I noticed an indent in my left breast. When relaxed with arms down it simply looks as if it is a second fold vertically halfway down, quite subtle. When I raise my arms it disappears. HOWEVER, when I put my arms down and flex/tense my muscles, boom, a very prominent dent as if someone poked their finger into my breast and it stayed there.

I did the typical thing... googled. After seeing pretty much every response state breast cancer I made myself a GP appointment. She could see the dent straight away but could not feel any lump when checking but said she would refer me to the breast clinic anyway.

Jump forward to now, I have an appointment at the breast clinic a week today but am struggling to find any answers of a breast indent being anything but cancer. I'm beginning to get pain in the breast but i'm not sure if thats just the amount of prodding and poking i'm doing! I guess i'm just wondering if anyone had any positive results from a breast indent?

Thankyou x

You need to stop Googling if the only explanation you can find for breast changes at twenty two is cancer, because statistically a twenty two year old having cancer is very very close to none-not impossible but very, very unlikely. young women get lots of benign "lumpy bumpy" breast stuff.. Don't get ahead of yourself and just go get checked out. All the most likely explanations are benign. Stop prodding and poking too! That is bery likely the reason you're geting sore.

I am going through the same thing right now, Im 20 as of January. Ironically that's exactly when I learned that a indent/dimple could mean cancer.

My indent is on my left breast on the outer side near so it looks like a fatty fold or something. Same thing as you, I can see it when relaxed but not when I put my arms up. And when I flex it's more prominent and looks like a sideways v (<) pictures

Personal I don't feel anything but when I saw my doctor she mention feeling a small something, she wasn't concern at all and said she would wait six month but if I wanted I could have a ultrasound. So I said yes to the ultrasound, it came back clear, only thing they saw was regular breast tissue. But I was/am still concerned because she mentioned feeling something but it wasn't seen on ultrasound?

Since many of the women on her with similar indentationsituation and dimples almost if not always say to push for MRI especially if you don't see or feel a lump because some of them didn't feel a lump but did actually have something not always cancer. I did some reserch and decided it was something I wanted to do.

So did my own unbiased reserch of everything I could find. I emailed my doctor a Google Doc. ( https://docs.google.com/document/d/13XcsSrqFkaG756OEuco5IijVwcpvpqB0h2OnQo9fXOQ/edit?usp=drivesdk )with links to everything. I made sure to look into my insurance and hospitals guidelines online for their breast MRI criteria/prerequisites. Because it is usually reserved for high risk women with genetic mutations or who already have/had cancer. Luckily my doctor and insurance accepted my request so now I'm waiting to schedule that.

Something I found that I feel is important but not mentioned often is that all test like ultrasound, mammo, and MRI are recommended to be done 7 - 15 day after the first day of you period in order to have to most clear image without the influence of hormones.

Please let me know what happens with you, if I'm not mistaken you already went to the breast clinic this tuesday? Did you get any test or did you see a specialist? If not here you can send a private message, and if you want to know anything else just let me know.
