Hi all, just wondering if anyone has had elevated CA15-3 at diagnosis? My markers were only measured after my mastectomy, and just wondering whether the elevation was due to inflammation... Thanks

My oncologist is among the few who track CA 15-3, and she won't draw them sooner than a month after any surgery. The inflammation will throw the results off. My tumor markers were mildly elevated during chemotherapy.

My MO does track my CA 15-3, although he let me know up front that it is not considered standard-of-care to do so. The first measurement was about a month after my bi-lateral mastectomy: CA 15-3 was 81.5. That freaked me out a bit. A couple months after dose dense chemo and while on tamoxifen, it was 25. I changed to letrozole and it has slowly dropped since then and about a year further along was recently measured at 12.5.
