Don’t get tests done on a Friday! The wait is awful!

I was diagnosed with 1.2 cm invasive Ductal Carcinoma of my left breast Feb 22nd. It has shaken me up pretty badly, but so far I think most test results have come back as best they can. All tests have been taken on a Friday and the weekend waits have been ...crazy! I’m told....ER Pos (>90 3+) PR pos (>80% 3+) Her2/Neu negative (1+) BRCA tests negative. Was told Stage 1 it no letter mentioned. Tumor markers CA28-29 = 13. CT scan: no evidence of metastatic disease within chest abdomen and pelvis.

Today I had a whole body bone scan and now I WAIT! It looked super scary to me on the screen seeing all kinds of body parts lit up! Anyone have any positive experiences they can share to keep me away from google for the ext 3 days??

I have lumpectomy scheduled for April 6th and probably 6 weeks of radiation. She doesn’t expect chemo at this time. I feel very scared and alone. 😢

Thank you!

AnnMarie

Amrie it sounds like your cancer has been caught extremely early which is great news and also very unlikely that you need to stress too much about your whole body scan..i know you are still going to worry until test results back but try to stay calm on the basis of such an early diagnosis.

Wishing you all the best for yiur results and your treatment .

    Hi AnnMarie,

Sounds like you've had good news so far from the CT scans! I'm sorry the waiting can be rough. Staying off Google is probably good :)

I had a full bone scan too, which was a strange experience, but they just want to be sure and check everywhere. The bone scan was actually kind of interesting, because on the scan we could see my weak right knee and a slight misalignment of my hips.

Hang in there! Stay positive! You got this, come what may!

agree! Friday tests are awful. Especially if you don't have attivan or Ambien!

That being said, I have had my bone scan released to my chart (online) on a Saturday morning... that was all clear. Fingers crossed for you!

I’m sorry about your diagnosis. they’ve caught it early which is a very good thing! I’m also sorry for the wait...IT IS AWFUL! You will in time get to know that it’s all part of this battle, doesn’t make the waiting any easier. Waiting shakes up most of us. Getting answers, even bad, seem easier than the waiting (for myself at least). The bone scan scared the hell out of me too...seeing my skeleton on the screen freaked me out! That is until I thought of an old cartoon of dancing skeletons and I laughed out loud. Here’s the thing to do when getting all these scary tests done...remember that only a short time ago they didn’t even exist and people died in much higher numbers. Personally I’m so grateful to have the services available to me...it’s whats kept me alive so far.. embrace the medical end of this journey, it’s whats going to see you bouncing great great grandchildren on your knee. Hang in and hang on...we’re here for you, especially during the lousy waiting time. Hugs

Finally! Bone Scan results back and has not spread to bones! I was really scared with that one! I sincerely appreciate your support and encouragement! Next is meeting with my surgeon next Monday and if all remains the same surgery April 6th.
