Anyone else ER+,PR+, HER2 + ?

I was recently diagnosed at the age of 34. There has been a lot of information given to me within the past 2 weeks and I have been blessed with an oncologist that is extremely compassionate and spent over 40 minutes with me during my first visit explaining things and answering my list of written questions. However, I would like to know some stories from others whose tumor(s) are positive for estrogen, progesterone and HER.

I have decided to go with a bilateral mastectomy and reconstruction (immediate, hopefully.) I have not yet decided on a breast surgeon, but will be meeting a second next week. My oncologist told me that the course of treatment following the mastectomy is: chemo for about 4 months (I forgot how many rounds he told me that will consist of), followed by one year of a (chemo?) drug and 5 years of hormone therapy.

Sorry that I do not have the name of the drugs. I really should have taken notes.

If anyone else has/had such a tumor, can you please share your treatment experience with me?

    There are many here who are Triple Positive (ER+/PR+, HER2+). yYou didn't mention the type of BC (DCIS, IDC, ILC, IBC) which makes a difference in your TX plan. The different types are different with different TX plans and prognosis. The Stage and Grade also come into play.

    It would help if you would fill in your Profile so those who reply have pertinent info to post on.

    Livenlove- sorry about your diagnosis but glad you are here. You will find reliable and helpful information in addition to encouragement and support from many BC warriors! Search for HER2 triple positive and you will find a number of posts. As Kicks mentioned, your BC type, grade, stage, etc. determines treatment. My first set of doctors recommended chemo for 6 months, surgery, radiation, and hormone pill for 5 years. I went for a second opinion and decided to participate in a clinical trial. I am 6 months into my treatment; I get an infusion of Herceptin and Perjeta every 3 weeks (no chemo). I take Arimidix daily. Side effects have been minimal and I've been able to continue working full time. I had 2 tumors and enhancements on the outer quadrant when I started treatment; no tumors or enhancements were visible on my last MRI on Feb 22. I meet with surgeons next week and am leaning towards a bilateral mastectomy.

    You will find a HER2 triple positive diagnosis overwhelming at times. Information is your best friend, ask lots of questions and stay strong. Sending prayers and hugs, take care

    Deni, you are right: the HER 2+++ bit of the diagnosis is overwhelming. I recently visited a second breast surgeon and am now going with a different treatment plan which includes pre-surgery chemotherapy, taxol (sp?), Herceptin and Perjeta.

    I've heard really good things about Perjeta.

    Hi!

    Many of us triple positives have done neoadjuvant chemo (chemo before surgery). If you're doing four months, you could be getting Taxotere+Carboplatin+Herceptin+Perjeta (TCHP). I had the alternative chemo regimen (AC + THP), and that took five months. Yes, we triple positives do a year of Herceptin (a targeted therapy, not chemo).     Hi I have the same as you little bit of a bigger tumor. oncologist wants to do chemo hormone therapy then surgery why are you not getting chemo?
