The waiting is driving me CRAZY!!
I have been trolling this site for over a month now, but have been too scared to comment or share. I was diagnosed with IDC on Jan 25, 2018. It was my very first mammogram and I didn't want to do it. I thought to myself I'm still to young for a mammogram so I rescheduled it 3 times. After meeting with the BS in our town we decided to get a second opinion. I was just so scared and wanted to go somewhere where they deal with this every day all day long. On Feb 15 we finally were able to get into UAB which is a research & cancer center. I liked having a team of doctors that looked over my case and then all came in to give me their best form of treatment. I was told I was a good candidate for a clinical trial and if I didn't go that route then I would do standard chemo first before surgery. But in the mean time I would need a MRI guided biopsy so that was done on Feb 28. I have decided to join the clinical trial which wasn't really my first choice but I love the team of doctors and that is what they are pushing. So now I have to wait again for more test and after those test are done another 2wks for the Mammaprint to come back. My anxiety has gotten so bad I can't sleep or turn my mind off. Is this normal? Do people really have to wait this long to get a treatment plan together? Is it bad that I hope the mammaprint doesn't come back low so I can do chemo? I'm so scared that just taking Tamoxifen won't kill everything!! Sorry for the rant I just need to write this all down.

Hi,
I am in your shoes waiting to finish all the tests. Pet scan this week and waiting on FISH test.
Yes it does take time to finish up with all the tests. Been through this with my daughter 2 yrs ago.
But I know how you feel. Keep busy, stay positive even tho it's difficult.
Hugs

Everything you wrote about your feelings is absolutely normal!! When you’re a little further along you may find a very comforting acceptance that replaces the sheer terror...at that point I found my fighter instinct kicked in and I revelled in the strength of mind and soul I had...and didn’t know was there. You’re on a mind bending roller coaster right now, roll with it. You’ll quickly get to know when you’re over the top and get sick of it, and push it to the back of your mind. All that said every person deals differently, so don’t let anyone tell you how to feel in the moment...roll with it. One thing I do know for sure (for myself) is that once malignancy was confirmed, the emotional torture was over and I could stand up, dust off and move forward with my fight to recovery. I wish you the best in this journey....we’re all here for you!

Hi Kanona and I'm so sorry you are dealing with this. Yes, the doctors do need lots of test results, which take lots of time, to make their best recommendations. The waiting is awful and you will feel so much better once treatment is underway. And no, you are normal for hopng to avoid chemo! Do you have copies of your test results? Do you know if it is IDC, or something else? We are all here to help you as best we can, and Tamoxifen can work great if you are ER+. All best wishes for a good night's sleep.
