Hip bone ache

Options

Hi..I was told after I finished my chemo that my left bone side had gotten slightly less with the Osteoporosis I already had before chemo. Feels like I have a left side limp when walking. I had a bone density scan after chemo and that is how I know about my left side. I was put on Fosamax once a week.

My left leg and hip ache when I lie on it. I read Osteoporosis is not painful. If this was mestasis breast cancer to the bone..wouldn't it have shown up on my bone density scan? If I am having pain..it can't be from the Osteoporosis? I just had my appendix out and by accident they discovered it was extended, that is why it was removed. I am on standby for CT Scan as a tumour somewhere in the body could have caused the Appendix to become that way. The Appendix was not carcinoma. Should I be worried?

I am going to go see my doctor on this.

Bone and hip pains are common. It could be anything from a pulled muscle, ligament strain, tendon strain, arthritis, over-use, etc.

Your post is a tad confusing...less osteoporosis is good. Osteoporosis can cause pain if you end up with small fractures/fissures.

Unfortunately, bone density scans (DEXA) do not check/pick up bone mets.

Post back and let us know how you're doing.

I did have hip pain that lasted 4 weeks and I was convinced it was cancer....but it totally disappeared when I took some time off from exercising. May this be the same for you.

I had a bone scan for hip pain which was negative as well. Mine was bursitis. Hoping yours is benign too.

my hip pain waa from a spinal cord compreasion caused by a ruptured disc. It felt like my hip was broken.. toy may want to check out spinal issues as cause of hip pain.

i also had/have hip pain. mri last year showed rheumatoid arthritis.

it is so easy for us to immediately think 'mets', - but usually it's not, thank goodness!!

Thanks for the responses. Sorry it was a bit confusing. It was very early in the a.m. that I posted my original post and to tell you the truth I am just really tired of worrying, as there is something constantly coming up. I say that because I thought having my BC treatment done I would just get back to moving on with life. I figured I would have the occasional concern though. I just had another scare regarding my ovaries taken out etc..long story, so I may be just jumping the gun with this hip pain. It doesn't seem to happen when I am not exercising. I use to exercise regularly before the BC and never had pain there or anywhere for that matter. I am going to see my GP about this. I certainly will not be giving up working out and of course, that is a prerequisite for post BC treatment. I will just work through it. It is just as ppl say on here, every little pain makes you cringe a bit and you get a bit fearful. I will post back here when I find out about it from the doctor.
