The Ugly Robe Agony
I received a call back on my mammogram last week....called within 24 hours....focal asymmetry on the lumpectomy breast. I, like millions of others must wait another 10 days for re-imaging appointment. I know the odds, stats, etc. Did that stop me from being joined at the hip with Google? No, of course not. You might say (as I do to myself) "you've been through it before and you know the process and facts", don't scare yourself half witted. Again, like millions I did anyway.
Just caught a glimpse of myself in a mirror hunched over the laptop. I'm in the ugly robe I bought as an x-mas gift for my husband four years ago. We call it ugly because it generally is very much so. But it's warm and comforting in times of illness or need. I might also add that my hair is styled in a very voluminous 'mad scientist' doo. I mean I've really got some Albert Einstein going on!
No more! I've got this wait ahead of me and for today I'm not going to waste a lovely day sitting in terror looking like Einstein provoking sheer terror into my heart and soul....not a minute longer!!! I'm getting off this damn machine, combing my hair into some kind of acceptable order and getting the hell out of this house! I'm going to the mall. I may spend money.....lol make that - I WILL spend money. Something treat like. No more wallowing for today, screw that!
I'm going to put on some mascara and lip gloss too....don't anyone try and stop me!!

this. I'm going in a few hours for a mammogram guided stereotactic biopsy for the calcifications and sonogram guided biopsy for a mass. I'm going in looking my best! Hair and makeup is on point today!!

You go, beautiful women!

Egads--you go girl. Treats to yourself are one of the very best things in life. Come back and tell us what you bought--I bet you look *fab*.

lol first thing I smiled at in the biopsy room was the radiologist looking like a mad (blind) scientist staring intently thru a very strong magnifying glass. The nurse thought she needed to explain, and I laughed and said 'I fully understand, but an hour ago at home that was me madly trying to pluck out all of my chin hairs and I finally gave up because there were just too many of them!'
