Hi ladies ❤️

43, I was diagnosed 2/14 with DCIS grade 3. ER/PR+ 90%. Mri shows "evidence of breakout" does that mean it is no longer contained in the duct and is invasive? Wondering if this will change anything tx wise. I can't take hormone therapy because of stroke history. Anyone have suggestions?

I don’t know if it means it’s now invasive but if so the diagnosis should’ve changed from DCIS to IDC. On the anti-hormonal: I have history of blood clots and had to stop tamoxifen (a SERM).)MO had no problem starting Femara (an AI) after oophorectomy at first in combination with the blood thinners (Xarelto) and now later without. Thought process was with Xarelto doing its job it gave me an edge against Femara causing clots/stroke. The AIs have less risk of clots (which can cause strokes) overall than Tamoxifen. At 90% ER+ it would be something I’d discuss again with MO/Neuro/Primary Care dic

Yes I was pre-menopausal. The oophorectomy of course put me into surgical menopause. It is really nice not having to deal with a period at all anymore and no worries about birth control failure. especially with all the other concerns going on right now.
