    Hi guys! I'm a 18years old, and in early January I had a spinal fracture from a sledding accident, during this I had a full body CT and the radiologist pointed out that I had a 'suspicious' spot but everyone was more concerned about my back. So I finally last week got into see my OBGYN and she did a breast exam and said she could feel 'the spot' (nobody is using correct medical terms with me so she never told me if it was move able or anything) and she recommended an ultrasound, I got the ultrasound and the technician wrote 'mass' in her notes instead of cyst which is what I assumed it was. The next morning my doctor called and said they would need to do a biopsy because the radiologist saw enough red flags. Im having a lot of anxiety about the biopsy, I'm slightly concerned but not terrified of it being cancer I'm so young and It doesn't run in my family, but does anyone have any tips on things I should say to the radiologist, or things to help? How painful is it? I want to be prepared because I will freak out if I'm caught off guard. I did get my doctor to prescribe a high dose of anti anxiety medication to take before, but I don't know, I'm still anxious.

    Hi HaileyMarie and I'm sorry - that must be pretty stressful. The biopsy will requires a painkiller injected with a needle, which will hurt for a second, but then you won't feel the biopsy needle at all. I think they will advise Tylenol for a day or two but that's a good question to ask the radiologist. While you are there you might also ask for a copy of the ultrasound report so you have that for your medical files. And then ask how you will receive the biopsy results: will they call you directly or will they give them only to your OB/GYN? And how long will they take?

    You are correct that odds of this being cancer are very, very low. So I hope you can keep up with your regular schedule during all of this annoying testing and waiting. Best of luck.

    I am sorry you are facing this... and at such a young age. When is the biopsy? Do they plan to do an ultrasound guided biopsy or an excisionsl biopsy?

    Since you are an adult, you can request a copy of all of your reports. I encourage you to get them for your records.

    Bring a parent or friend to your biopsy.

    my biopsy is this Thursday, I am bringing along one of my friends. My nervous because nobody seems to be awnsering my questions or making me feel prepared, my doctor just said biopsy and I’ve never even met the radiologist before. I wasn’t under the impression it was just a cyst until suddenly my ultrasound and now biopsy which has all happened in a week. I will write down a list of questions, ask about which procedure he is doing, I’ll ask about getting the ultrasound pictures as well. Am i missing anything?
