Thank you for all the nice comments on the pics. We had fun that night. My sister in the middle, actually went with us in my DH's car, since her prom date came from VT (she met him on a JROTC trip to Norwich University). We are "Irish twins" (although I look like our Irish Dad, she looks like our French mother, my other sister in the picture takes after Dad's side too, and the youngest takes after Mom too. Two blue eyes and freckles like Dad, 2 olive complexions and browned eyes like Mom). I was born Dec 21st (I'm the eldest of us 4 sisters) then she was born the following Dec 17th. Same age for 4 days. She's older than my husband as well (I'm 1 yr 8 mos, she's 8 mos older, his sister is less than a month older than me). Number 3 sister in the picture, is 2 1/2 years younger than number 2, and number 4 is 5 years younger than number 3 (she's not in the picture, she was in 5th grade). It's funny, my 4 kids are roughly the same ages apart as my sisters and I are.
Mae-Love that hat on your dog! My maiden name is McDonough, so the month of March was Dad's celebration month. He would have been 82 March 7th, and marched with the Ancient Order of Hibernians, pipes and drum group, at many St Patrick's Day parades. He loved it. We even got him a shamrock head stone (even though Mom is French, LOL).
Lynne-I know where the "Weathervane" was, now "Murphy's". My son had a friend that lived on the road, behind it. We'll have to get together for lunch or something, when you get back! That would be great!
Micmel-The snow is melting now. We never lost power, rarely do. Another Nor'easter coming in on Tuesday. So far, they said we should only get a few inches, unless it heads further north. I hope they are right!
My DH is patiently waiting for me so we can go. I guess I should get off here!
Have a great day everyone! Hugs!!
Lynne

Lynne, Iβm Hungarian but married Irish with an Oβ last name. My grandparents landed in upstate NY (very Green Acres) and DHβs grandfather landed in New England via Canada. Iβm always happy to celebrate in March π»πΊ

Okay, I gotta step in here and break up all this Irish talk. I have lots Scottish blood in me, you see! Lol. Actually, my Dad's parents came here from Scotland. I have to admit that my grandfather didn't mind Irishmen, but those Englishman, whoa! Back in the day, there were many hard feelings between the Scots and the English. Lots of history there - land disputes, ruler disputes, wars. Apparently some Scotsmen in my grandfathers' generation still held onto some of that bitterness. Luckily, it passed eventually. My Mom's family was a combination of English, Scottish, Irish, and Welsh. I am just one big British Isles girl. No great culinary delights anywhere in there unless you have a hankering for haggis. Italy and France, now they know what to do with food! My DH is Irish on both sides. My children never tan, poor things.
Lynne, I would love to get together for lunch when I return. Yes, Murphys now stands on the Weathervane property. It looks very nice, but I have never been there. I looked at the menu online once soon after they opened, but it didn't appeal to me. A few of my neighbors have said the same thing.
Keemom, I am glad you are doing well. Enjoy the birthday party.

I think it would be totally awesome for you guys tomeet each other for lunch. That is such a heartwarming thought. We MUST have pics of that please. ???????? That is such a special thing. I would love that sooo much. That is something I would love the opportunity to do with all of you. You guys shouldn't definitely take the opportunity, special sister and friends. That's warming my heart so very much !! Hugs to you all! ~M~

Wish all you Irish/Scottish descent people a Happy St Patrick's day next weekend. Did you all know he originally came from Wales. He came to Ireland to bring Christianity to the pagan Irish. We will be celebrating here in Spain, along with English, Welsh, Spanish possibly Norwegian, Pakistani and who knows how many others. Drowning the shamrock in Guinness!!
I am being referred for more radiotherapy for the pain, anyone had success with this? Any comments welcome

I just wanted to pop in here with a brief comment on going dark after passing - not notifying BCO, in other words. I checked into alternate ways of informing, and it would not be necessary to give your login info to a family member. You can just have them send an email to the mods. The email address is found under contacting moderator or something. My thought was, there could be multiple sites we want to contact, for various reasons, and it might make sense to make a folder of "send after death" and write out the emails ourselves. No passwords needed, nothing disclosed. What say you all?
Runor, my XDH1 and I had an Irish Wolfhound named Brenna (this was back in mid-70's) as well as AKC Old English Sheepdogs, we actually bred one of them and sold the puppies. The times of my life when I've been without a dog could be measured in months, maybe even weeks, not years. Other than the two I have now, aged 11 and 13-14 (rescued) our last 5 dogs have lived to at least 15. Two of them lived to 17.
Runor, honey, GET THE DOG.

Mags, Thank you for that information. I had never thought about having someone notify the mods. It sounds like an excellent idea. Now I have a couple of good options. We come up with so many good ideas when we all put our heads together. What would I do without all of you?
Hugs and prayers from, Lynne

Good morning Ladies~I just had someone very sweet send me a PM about our thread. I have to tell you all, this happens at least twice a week from people I don't even know. They share with me how this thread helps them laugh and they enjoy the sisterhood that we have built here togther. They tell me how they laugh, and enjoy all of the sweet pictures and things we share together. Everytime I read something like that, it's makes me so happy that you are all here with me everyday. Sharing some good stuff considering the reason we were brought together in the first place. I am so glad I decide to create the thread. You ladies make it a home away from home. A safe place to be me, and cry if I need to, or laugh about Julie's obvious vowel problems.. no matter what it may be that day. There you all are. I again thank you for making this what it is with me. Because without you all.. I would be sitting here talking to myself. Lol. That would be really weird. I would do it. But it would be really more like a journal instead of a sisterhood!!! Much love to you guys ~M~
-
Very cool. Its nice to know your thread is well received. For me itβs kind of like a local bar, some days I pop in for a quick one and just say hi, other days, I rant, rave, laugh, cry, as if Iβve had a fewtoo many.
-
Mae~Well you are one of the originals! So that's the way it should be. I hope you're enjoying your Sunday. Any friends over for dinner tonight ? What ya making now ? Yum!! I am hungry. π ~M~
-
I feel like βNorm!β (From Cheers) around here, lol.
Casual Sunday so far, both couples are coming over for The Walking Dead tonight and DH is making Spaghetti and Meatballs with Garlic bread.
-
it's so very true lol. Norm is a pretty cool dude! Loved that show. I'm starting to get really hungry. Lol I love meatballs. Maybe tonight I'll get meatball sub. Or like it's said in Philly area people say meatball hoagie! Delicious! Maybe I'll have to settle for Rice Krispies! Enjoy your friends! Have a blast! Enjoy yummy meatballs!!! Hey sounds like DH is doing great. If he's making dinner. Yay!!! That's awesome! Hugs. Norm! ~M~
Oh and Mae.... itβs our thread darling!

Lynne-We've been to Murphy's a couple of times, when we were riding our motorcycle this summer. I was disappointed both times. Not much I liked on the menu. Mostly, "bar" food. I'll PM you with my phone number, so you can call me when you get back. We went to T-bones for lunch today with my Mom, niece, our youngest and his girlfriend who is here for the week on her spring break, from Rochester NY. My DH and DD went skiing at Cannon today with our neighbor who has a home in Franconia. Beautiful day here, they said it was snowing there. Now we are heading in the hot tub for his sore legs. Only second time he made it on the slopes this season, first time for our older DD, she's taking a nap! LOL
Mae-I love you have a Sunday night get together for the Walking Dead! I usually DVR it and watch it the next morning. I've been watching it from the beginning. My kids got me to watch it (as well as Game of Thrones!).
I won't be doing much this St Patrick's Day. I'll be on the tail end of hell week. I am hoping I'm feeling better for Friday (cousin's 60th birthday party) and Sat, our mini cooper group is getting together, about a mile from my house! We'll see...
Well, they changed the total amounts again on the next Nor'easter we are getting on Tuesday. It was 1-3 now it's 12+ inches! Thankfully, some of the snow melted from the last storm, but I still have a lot of snow out there! Crazy March this year!
Well, off to the hot tub (I haven't been in it for a long time!). Enjoy the rest of your Sunday everyone!
Hugs!

Julie isn't the only one with vowel trouble, Mic!
-
Big Walking Dead fans here too, with time difference we watch on Monday. I don't think this series is as good as before. Waiting for next season of game of thrones.
Happy sunda
-
Weβve been hosting a Sunday dinner and TV night for over 5 years, it keeps things normal for us and helps my friends see that Iβm ok. We watch other shows too depending on the time of year, we enjoy the commentary and need the support for some episodes like Glenβs death (presumed and final, which destroyed me) and GoTβs Red Wedding.
-
Magda LOL~ where do you guys find these things?? You're all quite entertaining.
Lynne(Man)~ I hope the mini crew meets for the ride. Sounds very relaxing. I honestly hope the weather people are wrong, and the snow blows out to sea, no more snow. No more snow.!!
Mae~ enjoy your show. I started to watch it. But got side tracked with my game of thrones books and series. But did enjoy so far what I have seen. I'll have to lean on you guys when I have questions.. you too Minnie! Some good resources here!!
Waving hello to Bigbhome ~ hope you're doing well!! So glad you're around. Sending hugs. ~M~
-
......I found one I liked!!! ~M~

I am going to admit right now Chelle gave me this today, it's my favorite. I have to give her mind the credit, although she and I are like twins removed from each other at birth. This is sooo true after all that cancer has done to my body!!!! Hugs to you all ~M~
-
LOL!!!! Thatβs hilarious, Iβm stealing it!
πππ
-
I know right!!!! LMAO! I'm right there with you Mae!! π we all need that roar of laughter sometimes lol ~M~

Micmel, thank you for inviting me to this thread. It looks like you ladies have a lot of fun here. Let me introduce myself to those who don't know me already. My name is Robin and I live in Alabama with my beloved parents. This road is tough but having my parents in my life, have made this a lot easier. And yes I sort of get babied from time to time, but I'm not complaining.
I can't wait to get to know you ladies better!
Much Love,
Robin

Robin,Welcome to the thread sweet woman. We just try to band together and get through each day with some support and even a smile. There is a wonderful loving group here. I am sure you'll recognize some of the lovely ladies. You'll fit right in ! We are all dog lovers. I think it's great that you have parents that actually are parents , I don't think my parents looked up the definition, they were too busy looking up how to ruin other people's lives, by having children and then forgetting you had them. I am so very happy to see you here. π€ππΉ!I'm going to bed Now. Sleep tight, much love ~M~
