I feel like my life is on hold until I get an answer
I found a palpable lump in my right breast two weeks after I quit my low paying job with insurance for a higher-paying one. That was in mid-December. I knew I was getting married and going on my husband's insurance the last of February so I held off. I went in Thursday for my first mammogram and fully expected to be told it was a cyst. Apparently my palpable lump was unremarkable on the mammogram but the neurologist also noted that I have extremely dense breasts. The mammogram did find a small nodule in my left breast. They ended up doing an ultrasound that day on both breasts and I was given a bi-rads 3 and a 6-month follow-up on my left breast but the doctor could not rule out malignancy on my palpable lump and it was given a bi-rads 4. It's super close near my armpit and not very mobile. It's so hard to not think about this. I'm not sleeping, eating and cannot concentrate. I went ahead and made an ob-gyn appointment for my well-woman exam for 3 p.m. so hopefully she can calm me down. My biopsy is scheduled for Wednesday and the waiting is excruciating. I wanted to join this community in lieu of looking up cancer diagnosis because that is going to drive me crazy. Does anyone have any suggestions for things I can ask my doctor this afternoon?

Dear Wookiecookie314,
We are sorry that you find yourself here with worry and uncertainty. We are glad that you reached out to our community rather than researching cancer. Perhaps you have already gone to see your doctor and may not see this response. You have your biopsy scheduled and so there is no reason to figure things out until you have more definitive information. Perhaps your doc can further explain what to expect from the biopsy procedure. Keep us posted. We are here for support. The Mods

hello everyone I had a biopsy done 12 months ago on a lymph node on left breast and was to follow up six months the results said reactive. I just had a ultrasound done birads 4 on right breast a mass and thickened lymph nodes suspicious. I had a clip put in my breast after eight samples of the mass and three of the lymph node. I've been having night sweats, fevers, swollen lymph nodes and many more symptoms as more show up. I'm so scared that it is cancer. With weight loss and everything going on over 48 months my body's tired. I hope I get these results soon. I had a peripheral blood smear test done results are reactive. Has anyone had any of these things also ?

hello everyone. I am also going through the waiting period right now. I think you described it perfectly when you said “my life is on hold.” My husband and I have been arguing the past few days because he tells me he doesn’t know how to help me with my anxiety / sadness. At work, I cannot focus. I have my appointment with my surgeon tomorrow about my birad 4 and I’m so nervous. I also have been experiencing pain/tightness in my upper back and chest wall, which I know is probably anxiety ... but my brain is taking me to other crazy places.Hope everything goes well for you!!
