Really need feedback

hi my gp found two lumps in my right breast after it was swollen and painful and under arm and collar bone pain got an urgent appointment with the hospital and the doc there found three lumps send me home for a week and got the mamogram and soupose to get a ultra sound as well but the mamogram was clear so they said they did not need the scan I said to him what about the lumps you found and my gp found he said they didt show up and are normal breast tissue fair enough I am thanking god but I would have been much happier with the ultra sound to be 100 per cent the lumps are still there right over my right breast and the breast is swollen goin back to gp to see what she thinks as she was quite concerned any advice thank you all

    Hi there. Sorry you are going through this. IMO you should see a breast surgeon and have an ultrasound and MRI. Better to be safe than sorry. Good luck and keep us posted...

    Agreed, you need to pursue this further. Ask your GP to re-order for you. Do you know if your original mammogram order was a screening order, or a diagnostic order? The orders where I am have a warning on them for the person placing the order: Does this patient have a new lump/mass or nipple discharge? If yes, please order a Diagnostic Mammogram and Ultrasound Breast. This saves time and money because the screening (routine) mammogram has less 'sensitivity' to anything out of the ordinary. From my experience, the ultrasound (done properly) is crucial. (Unfortunately, I don't have anyone willing to order the MRI so that will have to wait for 6mos when I can use the genetics recommendation as leverage.)

    thank god I actually thought I was the mad one do not get me wrong I am so thankful of a clear mamogram and would not want to go through what some of you brave ladies have been through but at the same time there is something at my mind that is niggling me why did the lumps not show up on 53 and due to my breast been enlarged it’s quite big two doctors felt them the radiologist wanted to know by I was brought to clinic she had not read my file about the lumps that had been found and said you can go home now I said what about my ultra sound she said you don’t need it I waited to see the doc and asked him he said nothing showed up come back in 2 year
