area of increased density on 3D
mammogram. I have to go back in this next week (have to wait 5 days, ugh) for a diagnostic mammogram and possible ultrasound. I have been called back before on 2D and once on 3D mammograms. I admit it had been two years this past time that I had been in, life was just difficult over this time. But I am 50, still very regular in my periods, maybe have gained some weight (I am about 50 lbs over anyway). But they found an area of "increased density" from two years ago. I will admit I am scared. It in the right breast this time, last time was the left. Has anyone been called back with increased density? I don't take hormones or anything as I am still perimenapausal. Looking for some reassurance, I guess. I hate this and think that is part of why I didn't go back for two years because with life bring hard, I couldn't handle the extra stress of something like this. Not good, but anyway I went now. So there is that. Thanks in advance!

Dear lissac67,
We are so sorry that you find yourself here with this worry. The wait and uncertainty is so very stressful. Everyone here will say that such is true. Take care of yourself and keep us posted on how things turn out. The MOds

I wasn't called back for increased density, but I did end up having an MRI due to dense breast. I hope you get some answers soon!

Thanks. I am still pretty freaked out. I went from figuring out where I want my ashes spread to finally trying to see what I could find in the patient portal where I found my last mammogram, which also had a call back for the right breast. Same one as this time. Both 3D. Last time was fine, just dense. So that made me feel a bit better on one hand. Since that was two years ago, either I have something or my right boob just gives the 3D machine fits. They don't give much detail in the records in the portal, but it did calm me down a bit. i think I recall it was the same area too, that is of concern now. I figure if it was really something, it would have made more of an appearance in two years. They didn't even want to check in 6 months at that point. So I am not as freaked, but still nervous. They didn't give me much detail (maybe that is a good thing).

lissac67 - I am thankful they are being very thorough with you. It is stressful and scary, but it is better that they are doing this now.
I am constantly preaching about dense breast tissue. My sister had dense breast tissue and was diagnosed at Stage 3C - the only
reason they biopsied was because myself and our mom had been through breast cancer. I thank God every day that hospital went the extra mile
as my sister is doing great 3 years later.
Just wanted to reach out and say it is all good no matter how stressful and scary it is, because truly you are better off knowing the truth.
Have you heard about the MBI - Molecular Breast Imaging? https://www.mayoclinic.org/tests-procedures/molecular-breast-imaging/about/pac-20394710 A friend of mine had it - her situation was benign.
