Nipple punch biopsy?

I'm having some nipple issues but am wondering if the dermatologist decides to do a punch biopsy to rule out Pagets, where would it occur? Would the punch go into the areola only (I'm not having symptoms in the areola, only in the nipple)? Would they take part of the nipple in the punch too? Don't know how that works and it sounds so painful. Any advice on procedures or recovery appreciate

I just went through a punch biopsy and it was done on the scaly skin of the nipple. Its not as bad as it sounds, the only pain is really the needle to freeze it. I doubt they would biopsy your areola. Recovery was uneventful, I kept the dressing on for about 4 days. The scab reminded me of a small vaccination scab like we got in the 60s.

My experience was very similar to mollyrose. Totally uneventful, it's a very small area that they take. One stitch and a bandaid and I was on my way.

thank you all! My apt is tomorrow morning so perfect timing on the responses. I had a punch done on another area of my breast so that's all I was going on. Seems like it's smaller and less scary than I had in my mind. I appreciate your responses
