I have the cancer policy and just had Ductal Carcinoma in SITU removed in surgery. I won't be doing radiation or anything since it's a stage 0 non invasive cancer. My question is, does the policy pay in ANY cancer circumstance or is it a case by case basis? Seems a little unfair to cash in when my primary insurance covered the testing and surgery when I won't be doing any other treatment. When there are others out there worse off in need of it more, I just feel like I can’t accept with a clear conscience.

Also- in case of reoccurrence does the policy pay wth EVERY new diagnosis

I don't think my Aflac policy covers DCIS, but you definitely should check. Don't feel bad about getting the benefits. That is what you pay for! It is an added benefit above and beyond your health insurance. So, even if your medical covers all expenses, you still get your benefit.

In case of reoccurrence, my policy only pays the initial benefit once per lifetime. (So with itiatial diagnosis) However, other benefits are payable whenever they occur...like chemo, radiation, hospital confinement, etc.

Hi Everyone - AFLAC cancer insurance has definitely been a blessing. Everyone here should know that every few years AFLAC updates/changes the cancer plan. Unless you upgrade/convert your policy, your benefits and premiums stay the same as when the policy was issued. My plan issued in 2004 does not have the same benefit payout as the ones offered today. Also, the benefits paid will depend on the level of coverage you purchased. If you have any questions about your plans, call AFLAC Customer Service 1-800-992-3522. You'll get an automated voice system, just keep hitting "0" until you get a human being. They can answer any question about your policy and send you a duplicate if you need one. I was an AFLAC agent for 25 years, retired January 2018 and was diagnosed May 2018, just started radiation this week. Good luck to all.

CKR2085 I was an AFLAC agent for 25 years, retired January 2018 and was diagnosed May 2018. You should absolutely file your AFLAC claim. Send in your pathology report and surgical notes. Breast cancer is considered internal cancer and will pay out the first occurrence benefit. Even if you have a skin cancer and the doctor removes it in his office, there is a small surgical benefit. You paid for the insurance, you NEED to file the claim. I can guarantee you that no one else will benefit from the monies you leave behind. In the event of a recurrence, the only benefit that won't pay again is the first occurrence ... surgery, radiation, chemo, reconstructive surgery, travel, etc will continue to pay. You'll be better off in the event of a recurrence to have filed the original claim.

jacee All cancers are covered with an AFLAC cancer policy. The benefits will depend on the services rendered.
