Hi Everyone,

Its been a month come Wednesday since my Lumpectomy. I was just wondering when Radiation usually begins after surgery? I haven't even been contacted yet for consultation. Hopefully I start soon or at least meet to discuss it. Waiting a month with no word on anything is crazy. Any one else waited this long ? Maybe its normal , I have no idea.

Feeling kinda of depressed. I was doing so well up until now.

Princess

    Hi Princess3033,

Did you have your post surgery app't yet? That's when my surgeon referred me to Radiation Oncology, had to wait 2 weeks to get in for a consult, then another week for the simulation, and then another week to start treatments (which will be this Thursday). You can contact whomever/dept where the referral was sent for Radiation. I never wait around until I'm called, I always get on the phone and call them. Hope this helps.

Hi Princess. The standard is to wait a month to be sure your lumpectomy is healed, but you can push it a bit if you are impatient like me. If I were you I'd contact the RO at your facility, make an appointment and tell them to get going already. Best wishes.

I called my RO myself right after my surgery follow up appointment. I wouldn’t wait for them to call you. Call and tell them you want an appt

    Thanks everyone,

I had my post opt checkup two weeks ago. I may call tomorrow even if I get some idea of when it will start. That would make me happy . Good luck on your treatments Veeder14.

Good news Princess. Let us know if we can help and you might also want to say hello over on the "starting radiation in March" board so you have a supportive posse as you go through treatments. It helped me a lot.
