(((Cubbie))) I am sorry about your back. 7of9, great news on your ultrasound! Well, it happened again! Wyatt's not even sick and he got a mucous plug and rapidly declined and passed out while we were working on him. My oldest called 911. By the time the fire department arrived (about 3 minutes!) he was pink and awake. I don't think I can take the roller coaster!
-
(( Molly ))..gosh ..so sorry ..the stress must be unbelievable ..
-
Good grief, Molly, I don't know how you manage. That is a roller coaster. Thank goodness he's OK, but I bet you acquired a few gray hairs today!
Welcome, Rgoosen! The waiting is awful, isn't it? I remember the wait for my Oncotype test, it did seem longer than it really was. We are here though, and we'll wait along with you.
Iris, glad you got the rollator fixed, wouldn't want you going around tilted at an angle!
-
Cubbie - I had a similar type of pain in a different part of my ribs than you describe - it wound up being hairline fractures as the result of rads. I hope you get it figured out soon - it's upsetting and of course your mind goes to the worst case scenario!
-
Pennsygal - I had 2 rib fractures from rads too! Hurt like a son of a gun...I just thought it was chemo, rads aches and pains. Didn't get confirmed to over 6 months later from a CAT scan.
-
I know!! I got mine from sneezing. I could not believe it
-
Cubbie, I've had that a few times (in fact, a couple of days ago on my left side). When the clinic said "muscular," they were sort of on the right track. Mine was diagnosed as "costochondritis," an inflammation of the cartilage where the upper ribs join the sternum, resulting from some sort of unnoticed injury or even a lingering souvenir of a chest cold, flu or other respiratory infection. The nerve endings get irritated, hence the quick-and-sharp transitory "gassy" nature of the pains (which can be felt either on the side, back or seemingly directly beneath the lungs). It'll go away. If you can take an NSAID without gastric distress, that usually can clear it up after a dose or two.

Goodness, spent yesterday trying to get my taxes done. Long story but couple years ago the acct i was using canceled at last minute........he had previously had cancer and he had a reoccurance! So i very quickly had to find a new one. My neighbor got me an appt at the senior center folks. They did my taxes and all was dandy, the folks were aarp retired cpas. But this year, i booked too late and got ah boozo! They questioned my wiithdrawal i take from my roth ira. So back over today to get my frankly very simple taxes finished up!
I seeing some side effects from the chemo pills i take, got to really slather on the creams, i have wierd red areas on hands and feet, strange but they are the side effects i was warned about
-
Thanks Pennsy and Sandy. I talked to my doctors office yesterday, but I haven't had any more pains since Sunday evening, so they are going hold off on doing anything else and see if I have any more problems. Hoping it is gone!
-
Cubbie ..that's great that the pains are gone ..one less thing to worry about !
Iris ..glad you've got your taxes sorted ..but sorry you are having side effects.
It's been a very rainy few days here ..too many dreary days ..effects my mood , and I start to feel anxious ..oh well ..going out for morning tea with a friend today ..so hopefully that will lift my spirits..
Hugs to all

Well I m finally out of CT. Mom is doing okay. Had her at my house last weekend. She had a good time and got lots of rest and love. She is realizing that her ability to stand long periods of time isn't what it used to be so, so she decided to get a walker. I suggested it to her and she was not in favor or it at first but I didn't push it. She was the one who made the final decision about it and it gave all of us a bit of comfort over it. I did get her a shower chair for when she is at my house as my tub is hard for her to get in and out of without help.
-
mommy....not sure what sort of walker you got for your mom but, i have just recently gotten a rolator, miracle but my legs feel stronger! Think it is because ii am not so nervous to walk around my house. They are not expensive, less than a hundred and medicare paid for mine. I am walking more so that is helping to strengthen my legs.

Molly have been missing in action...so sorry to hear about Wyatt...such a shame, but he is a fighter....
Lucy thanks for your thoughts...been a rough ride...I lost power on Friday afternoon about 2pm...no heat, but hung in ...went to bed around 11pm the house wsas 63...chilly but not bad...on Saturday morning the house was 53...it got pretty bad....bundled up....but the worst part was no TV, Internet, which I can do without when I hve to...I read a bit...but then my phone went dead, and my Cell phone finally died to and no way to charge it...I don’t have. car charger otherwise could have done that...not sure where i put it.....cause I never use it......
On Saturday morning my son came over (my kids have a group amongst themselves and I am the prime subject...grrrrr, don’t like that.....anyway....he said “Mom your out of here”...I said going nowhere, and he said yes you are and I will be back in a 1/2 hour to take you to Beany’s house.....(another son) fought like hell, but his last words were...”If your not ready and cooperating, I will drag your ass out of this house and toss you in the car:....so to save myself and theneighbors of the embarrassment, I complied.........
Well I did not get power back till yesterday at 3pm (of course after we went over and emptied the freezer) but when we went into the house the Temp was 40 degrees.....that was at 1:30pm....the damn power came on at 3pm...after dragging all that shit to my sons house....Really!!!!!!
Was going back home last night, and my son said “no your not another big nor’easter is coming tomorrow and we are not going through this again...your staying until I know everything is safe andnot going to crash again.........
So here I am..being treated Royal.....(which I don’t need), waiting for the 6 to 12 inches of snow that is coming.....to anyone in the Northeast corridor...’I hope your all ok.....we are getting hammered.........hugs everyone.

Mom is looking at getting a walker that has wheels and she can sit down if she needs to when doing things around the house and gets really shaky.
Well it's snowing here and its coming down hard. Could see up to a foot, if not more.
-
mommy, sounds like the walker i have. Yupe, can sit dwn on it. Also greathelp when i am getting tea refill. I resisted this dang thing but it is good
-
Ducky ...Good Grief ..what a drama !!! HaHa ..your son made me laugh .HaHa...I can tell he's just like his Mum 🌞...Glad to hear you safe and sound and being treated like royalty..sounds good to me ..just sit back and enjoy it !!!
Mommy..glad your mum has decided to get a walker ..I'm sure it will be a big help to her .
-
I am so glad my mom decided to look into going this route. With me being 2-3 hours from her, it gives me piece of mind and she will still have independence.

Stay warm & safe, East Coast ladies! We got sleet yesterday, then snow overnight (and as of a 6 am it stuck) and it had melted/evaporated by noon. They're talking about this pattern repeating itself tomorrow, then a dry but chilly week.
Those Rollators with the fold-down seats also sometimes have built-in storage bags--and you can get all sorts of pouches, drink-holders, etc. to dangle off the handlebars & frame. I think that non-wheeled (I call them "hopalong") walkers make sense only for those who aren't supposed to bear weight on one leg but lack the balance necessary to use crutches. (I used one for 10 weeks after tibial-plateau repair surgery, until I was allowed to "touchdown-weightbear" with crutches and then cane). For joint replacement, they want you up, on your feet & rolling up & down the hallway as soon as possible after the "loopy-juice" wears off.
-
We got my Mom one of those rollators. She has the bicycle basket attachment on the front. It's really handy because she can use the basket to transport things like laundry through the house while leaving her hands free for navigation. And the seat is handy for transporting a plate or coffee mug. We're lucky here that we have a not for profit used medical equipment store through habitat for humanity that has stuff like this for sale second hand.
Tomorrow I've got an appointment to see a dietician. Should be interesting to hear some answers to my questions about saturated fat, calcium, salt, etc.
-
Those are really handy. My hubby's step-grandmother had one and my MIL kept it for her own usage.
-
oh wow, the snow has ended, cleanup begins! My development was plowing last night and now we are all just waiting a bit for the sun to melt the crust off. Not sure if i did right but found someone on facebook who is coming to dig out my car, although sun is doing a nice job
-
I got a foot of snow from this latest storm.
-
wow, stay safe and warm east coasters! A foot of snow is a lot!
I got a rollator since I knew I had two knee replacements coming up. My insurance actually paid for half of it. I also used the seat for transporting plates and mugs of coffee short distances: felt more secure than carrying them. I'm done with it now though, at least for now, but plan to keep it as it could come in handy in the future. I used to have a wheel chair too, which was given to me by my then health provider when I broke my foot years ago and couldn't bear weight for two months (and couldn't deal with crutches). It sat in my garage for years after I healed until I finally gave it away, and, truth be told, there has been more than one time since then when I've wished I still had it!
Sandy, thanks for the recommendation to hook into the bone health site (I think it came from you) a while back. I've been having a tough time with my knee replacement recovery the past week or so, and that site has really helped keep me out of CT. Knee swelled like crazy two days ago, and turned pink!! Called doc, he had me come in so they could look at: thankfully they have concluded that it isn't infected (which apparently is a nightmare in TKR) but that I am overdoing it (maybe I should go back to the rollator?!). Doc took a pic and wants me back on Friday just to be sure it isn't getting worse, after strict orders NOT to cook dinner or do dishes (which I had been doing) and to ice and elevate as much as possible....as you all can imagine, I am sure, the CT part isn't fun but the doc's orders not to do dishes or cook dinner almost makes up for it!
Anyway, thinking of all of you...
Octogirl
-
Octo ....glad your back ! I was just about to muster up a posse to go find you !!!!...sorry you've been having trouble with the knee ..I guess you'll just have to follow doctor's orders and not do ANY chores ..sounds pretty good to me :-)
Gosh ..so much snow ..!!
Iris ...It's good to hear the sun's out now !!!
Cubbie ..Did the dietician have anything interesting to say ?
-
So happy! Mom got her rollator today! My brother got it from a medical supply place for her. The only thing it doesn't have is a basket but they are getting one for her. I told her even a basket that goes on a bicycle would work for her.
-
sort f happy to see sun out but i think am in denal of this 3rd storlm due monday!
Yikes
-
They are watching the track on the next storm to see if we are going to get it or not. Dreading it if we do!
-
