I recently discovered a large mass in both breasts. I'm 19 with no family history of breast cancer. It feels like a long, thick rope that goes around my areola. It almost covers my entire breast and moved very easily when touched. It feels almost rubbery and can't be seen and is almost in the exact same spot in both breasts However, the one in my left breast feels larger than the one in my right. It is about 2 inches thick and very long, they dont really start or end anywhere. They just connect to other parts of my breast. I think they've been there for a while, but I don't remember if they've stayed this size the entire time. I feel like they may have gotten bigger, but that may be due to the fact that I am on my period. I have severe anxiety and am still trying to work up the courage to go see a doctor about it. I'm very scared and don't know what to do. I don't even want to talk to family about it. I keep reading things about thick breast tissue being a sign of cancer. I can't help but imagine the worst.

    HI Lexi6277,

We’re sorry to hear that your having some health concerns, especially at such a young age. We do urge you to go and talk to your doctor about this as you’re anxiety about this will likely get worse the more you think about it and imagine worst case scenarios.

Do you have a close friend or partner who could go with you for support?

We do hope you get checked out as soon as you can.

Let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,

    The Mods.

    Long. Slow. Breaths.

It is good you are getting this checked. It would be very unlikely to get cancer in both breasts simultaneously at such a young age. It is good though that you recognize when something is different and get it checked.

    Keep us posted.
