What is a prophylactic mastectomy like?

is the recovery the same as a regular mastectomy? I had a mastectomy in one side and am deciding whether to do the prophylactic mastectomy at the same time as reconstruction

yes it's pretty much the same. There just won’t be any nodes taken.

I would say exactly as the op above. Just no nodes taken. If you handled the umx fine im sure you will do the same.

if no nodes are taken, is the arm still difficult to move

I had no nodes taken at the initial surgery. Three weeks after dx I had a sentinel node biopsy with one node removed. I have not had any issues at all.
