Feeling very worried. I am a 56 year old post menopausal woman. I've had fibrocystic breasts with tenderness for as long as I can remember. Though it did lessen with meno I feel like I've had soreness and "flare-ups" since meno but not positive. Historically my fibrocystic symptoms always worsened with caffeine and chocolate, which I have been pounding lately r/t stress.

My question is, can post meno women have fibro cysts. Dr Google doesn't have much definitive info. I'm scheduled for a diagnostic mammo and sono on March 8 and like many the anticipatory anxiety stinks!

Thanks for ur support ☺

Absolutely, yes. I had a long history of cysts, some requiring ultrasound guided aspiration and draining due to size, over the course of at least 20 years. At the time of my bi-lateral mastectomy I had at least 4 in each breast and had been surgically post-menopausal for 9 years at that time.

I'm interested in talking with other postmenopausal women with painful fibrocystic changes. Anyone please??
